FG APPROVES N20 BILLION FOR THE REHABILITATION OF IKORODU-SAGAMU ROAD

After years of untold hardships suffered by residents and road users plying the Ikorodu-Sagamu Road, efforts of Hon Babajimi Benson and patience of road users has paid off as the Federal Executive Council on Wednesday, 28th March, 2018 approved a contract for the rehabilitation of the troubled Ikorodu-Shagamu Road which links Lagos State to Ogun State.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, disclosed this to State House correspondents at the end of the council’s meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Accordint to Punch Newspapers, Mohammed put the cost of the rehabilitation contract at N20bn.

He said the rehabilitation would reduce accidents and travel time on the road.

The minister said, “The significance of the award of this contract is that it will reduce road accidents and loss of lives.

“Of course, it will reduce travel time and operating cost for transporters and commuters, and more importantly, it will enhance the movement of petroleum and agricultural products and also facilitate other commercial activities.

This is a cheering news and the best Easter gift to residents of Ikorodu and frequent users of the road.
