As political permutations continue to build up towards the 2019 general elections, there is a very strong indication that the Ikorodu Division stakeholders are not leaving any stone unturned to challenge the incumbent, Senator Bareehu Ashafa from returning to the upper chamber of the national assembly in 2019.
Ikorodu division’s leading aspirant for the Lagos East Senatorial seat at, Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru, popularly called GOA by his teeming political admirers seems to be enjoying more acceptance and endorsement from key stakeholders across his Ikorodu division base as well as the entire Lagos East Senatorial District.
To further strengthen Otunba Abiru’s Senatorial bid, TEAM GOA 4 SENATE 2019, the political vehicle of the former Clerk of the Lagos State House of Assembly has unveiled plans to hold a One Million-Man March to garner support for GOA’s bid for the Senate to clinch the ticket.
Information made available to Ikorodu Oga Radio has it that the march is being planned to provide a platform for GOA’s numerous supporters across the district to formally endorse Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru and to register their support for him to represent the district at the Red Chamber in 2019.
Meanwhile, another indication that the Otunba Abiru senatorial bid is gaining popularity and acceptance is contained in a statement by Mr Tayo Odesanya, Deputy Director-General of the Team GOA 4 Senate 2019, where he stated that the group whatsapp platform has reached its limit, due to massive subscription by stakeholders.
The statement reads, ’having stretched the Whatsapp group elastic limit of membership and in profound appreciation of our individual presence here, we (the admins) wish to most humbly urge members to download the group’s new Telegram app to accommodate more members’.
The group further revealed that the much-touted One Million Man-March will also serve as an avenue to mobilize residents of the 16 local governments and local council development councils in the district for PVC registration and collection.
