IKODASS BUSINESS COCKTAIL: STAKEHOLDERS BERATE PRIMERO FOR DELIVERING POOR TRANSPORT SERVICES TO RESIDENTS

Business stakeholders across Ikorodu division have berated the management of Primero Nigeria Ltd, operators of the Blue BRT buses for subjecting residents of the community to untold hardships due to poor transport services being rendered to residents.

The wide condemnation follows a remark by one of the participants, Mr Shotomiwa who berated the company for not living up to its billings. He compared the company’s operations to that of similar organisations in other climes and concluded that the company needs to be re-positioned for better service delivery.

Shotomiwa added that, Lagos State government must also ensure the company delivers excellent transport service to residents of Ikorodu or the government should license more operators for the dedicated BRT routes.

Corroborating Shotomiwa’s position, Professor of Transport Studies and a former Dean at the Lagos State University (LASU), Professor Kayode Bawa-Allah berated the Management of Primero for operating far below its current capacity, due to what he termed operational inefficiency.

Speaking in the same vein, a former Commissioner for Information and Chairman of Ayotayo Worldwide Limited, Otunba Ayodele Elesho stated that the problem of Primero was sheer incompetence.

‘The problem of Primero is sheer incompetence. If you have so much buses and you don’t have their spare parts ready. Any little fault, you have to run to foreign country for spare parts, I think this is not acceptable’ he noted.

Elesho added that, it almost took the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi to stage a one-man protest at the Primero office recently before the company promised to provide additional 200 buses to its fleet in order to reduce the sufferings of Ikorodu commuters.

The first Ikorodu Oga Development Association maiden business cocktail will continue to resonate on the minds of participants and guests who graced the event, being the first time the Ikorodu business stakeholders will be interfacing with the Ayangbure of Ikorodu and Ikorodu Oga Development Association, organisers of the annual Ikorodu Oga Day celebrations.

Many of the business executives seized the opportunity of the meeting to air their views on many burning issues bothering on the Ikorodu business terrain, with the promise by Otunba Ayodele Elesho, on behalf of the Ayangbure-in-Council to address all issues raised.
