PHILANTROPIST, MRS TOSAN EROGBOGBO AND IKORODU OGA RADIO BOSS, OMO’BA AKINYEMI ADEPEJU BAG IKODASS ROLE MODEL, BEST COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARDS

Two outstanding Ikorodu personalities have bagged this year’s Ikorodu Oga Day most outstanding awards in the on-going week-long celebrations. They are Mrs Tosan Erogbogbo, a philanthropist and Director of Rhoda Youth Centre and Omo’ba Akinyemi Adepeju, Founder / CEO, Ikorodu Oga Radio.

While Mrs Tosan Erogbogbo emerged the 2018 IKODASS Role Model Awardee, Omo’ba Akinyemi Adepeju was honoured with IKODASS Best Community Service Award, for blazing the trail by pioneering Ikorodu Oga Radio-Nigeria’s first online community radio.

The duo were both decorated during the 2018 Ikorodu Oga Day Youth / Children Activities Day at the ultra-modern Ikorodu Town Hall on Wednesday, November 14.

Addressing the audience, made up of school children, youths, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi and his wife, supported by retinue of Ikorodu high chiefs, IKODASS Chairman, Otunba Ganiyu Abiru noted that ‘the youths constitute about 60% of our population and there is no doubt whatsoever that any group of population which constitutes so much is critical to the socio-economic and political development of that community’, he said.

He continued, ‘our belief in the youth population of Ikorodu is not in doubt and with the support of well-meaning individuals in the community, we will join hands always to chart a prosperous course  for our teeming youths’, he submitted.

Abiru described Mrs Tosan Erogbogbo ‘as a symbol of hope and an inspirational personality whose pedigree and achievements can and will resurrects the dead passion in our youths. A dutiful, diligent, patriotic and humane individual who believes oin the goodness for the generality of people and bringing out the best in them’.

‘We will be honouring Mrs Tosan Erogbogbo a mother and dutiful wife as our Role Model for year 2018. I confirm to you all that our role model this year is a lady of substance who has through Rhoda Youth Centre shaped the future of not only the youths but, elders who want to become employers of labour’, he noted.

Speaking about the recipient of the IKODASS Best Community Service Award, Otunba Abiru described Omo’ba Peju Akinyemi as a creative, vibrant and passionate young man who is committed to the development of Ikorodu community, despite being a youth.

‘The recipient of the Best Community Award, Omo’ba Peju Akinyemi has really done Ikorodu community proud and has brought Ikorodu into global reckoning, through the launch of Ikorodu Oga Radio, Nigeria’s first online community radio by this young man’, he noted.

Through Ikorodu Oga Radio, ’Peju has boosted the image of Ikorodu, through positive media reporting and communications. He is an example of youths who are making meaningful impact within the community and I charge our youths to emulate his passion for the development of Ikorodu’, he concluded.

While the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi presented the Role Model Award to Mrs Tosan Erogbogbo, Olisa of Ikorodu, Chief Zacheaus Odusoga presented the Best Community Service Award to Omo’ba Peju Akinyemi.

The awardees were joined by family, friends and well-wishers who came to celebrate with them.
