BEST COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD IS TO RECOGNISE IKORODU OGA RADIO FOR PROJECTING IKORODU TO THE WORLD- IKODASS CHAIR, OTUNBA GANIYU ABIRU

Unlike past Ikorodu Oga Day celebrations where awards were given to men of means and influence, this year’s Ikorodu Oga Day Award presentations is a complete deviation from the norm as most of the 2018 IKODASS awards were conferred on indigenes and residents who have contributed immensely to the development of the community, irrespective of their financial or social status.

This is in line with the inaugural speech of Otunba Abiru in September 2018 shortly after his swearing-in, where he stressed that IKODASS awards should not be strictly for raising funds. He promised to correct the anomaly by honouring deserving and credible individuals who are contributing to the development of the community, as a way of building Ikorodu into a virile community.

Speaking on the presentation of the Best Community Service Award to Ikorodu Oga Radio, Otunba Abiru stressed that the organization deserved the award for ‘reporting credible,  positive and news and information about Ikorodu community to the outside world, he said.

Other deserving recipients of this year’s IKODASS awards include High Chief Owolabi Salis, a philanthropist and politician, Mrs Tosan Erogbogbo, another philanthropist and Director, Rhoda Youth Centre, a free vocational training centre among many other sons and daughters of the soil too numerous to mention.
