UK BASED NIGERIAN, MRS ABIDEMI OLADIPO LAUNCHES ABIOLAD FOUNDATION FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

A U.K based Nigerian and a native of Ikorodu division of Lagos State, Mrs Abidemi Oladipo has formally inaugurated a non-governmental organisation, ABIOLAD Foundation to cater for the unique needs of people with disabilities in Nigeria.

The non-profit charity organisation was launched in Ikorodu, Lagos State on Thursday, 21st of February to meet the special needs of the people living with disabilities. The Convener of the NGO, Mrs. Abidemi Oladipo said the main objective purpose of the foundation was to be the voice to the voiceless.

The foundation, which was launched at the Ikorodu town hall was attended by friends and family of the Convener, who desired to see the foundation grow and reach many affected persons as possible.

Mrs Abidemi pointed out that ABIOLAD foundation was for all races of people living with disabilities. She said the aim of the foundation was to respond to the unmet needs of the people with disabilities, to promote community development and relief of poverty in the community and beyond.

Responding to the speech of the convener, Mr Olasupo Kazeem noted that “it is not about the number of times you pray that matters but, your service to humanity”. He expressed his support for the foundation and promised to be a part of its volunteers.

Mrs Yemisi Makanjuola, a friend of the convener stressed that “this foundation is not about money or fame, it is about feeling for others.  We should know that we have a purpose and have a reason to be where ever we are’, she said. She also expressed happiness for being a part of ABIOLAD foundation, while pledging to support where necessary.

Another guest at the event, Mrs Awobokun Oluwatoyin stated that “it is a thing of joy when you see people concerned about the less privileged. I want to be a part of this financially, spiritually, materially and all round”.

As a way of helping the foundation to hit the ground running, some guests at the event pledged financial support towards actualizing the vision of ABIOLAD Foundation.

A visibly elated Mrs Oladipo was full of appreciation to all her guests, for their love and support. She concluded by reiterating her commitment to the fulfillment of all that the foundation is set out to do for the people living with disabilities in the society.
