The Sekumade of Ipakodo, Oba Engr Bashir Aremu Sotonwa has appealed to the Lagos State Government and the President Muhammed Buhari-led Federal Governm,ent to give urgent attention to the deteriorating Oba Sekumade Road, otherwise known as Ipakodo-Ogolonto road in his domain.
The ever-busy road, which serves as an alternative road to Lagos Road Ikorodu, for those going out of Ikorodu and alternative entry route to commuters to Igbogbo, Ikorodu, Baiyeku and other parts of the division has worsened in the last few months.
According to residents and commuters, the road, which has many large gulleys at different spots between Ipakodo to Ogolonto, has become a major traffic point for commuters entering and exiting Ikorodu division.
Oba Sotonwa made the appeal while congratulating President, Muhammed Buhari and Mr Babajide Sanwoolu and other elected and re-elected political office holders on their victory at the just concluded general elections during the formal inauguration of the Ipakodo Development Association (I.D.A) at his palace on Saturday, March 23rd, 2019.
‘It is however pertinent for me to call the attention of government at all levels to the deplorable state of the Oba Sekumade / Ipakodo-Ogolonto Road, its attendant traffic gridlock. This road is an alternative access road to other parts of Ikorodu division and plays host to the Nigerian Ports Authority, Voice of Nigeria and Ferry Terminal among other notable public facilities and should be given prompt attention before it deteriorates further.
Oba Sotonwa lamented the daily productive man-hour lost in traffic on the road and pleaded with both Lagos State and Federal Government to come to the aid of residents and commuters on the route.
