SENATE CONFIRMATION: IKORODU INDIGENES AND RESIDENTS CELEBRATE HON. ABIKE DABIRI OVER NIGERIAN-DAISPORA COMMISSION APPOINTMENT

There has been wide jubilation among residents of Ikorodu in Lagos following the confirmation of Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa, an indigene of the town as the Chairman, Nigerian-Diasporan Commission, by the Senate yesterday, Thursday 9th May.

Dabiri-Erewa, a former federal lawmaker, representing Ikorodu federal constituency between 2003 to 2015 is the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Diaspora Affairs. She was recently appointed as the Chairman of the newly created Nigerian-Diasporan Commission by President Buhari.

Expectedly, her confirmation by the Senate yesterday has elicited wide jubilation among her kith and kin across Ikorodu Division, many of whom described her confirmation by the Senate as goodnews to the community that has been in the news for bad reasons in recent times.

Speaking on a social media platform, a resident, Ohi Obadan charged residents to go to town and spread the news for outsiders to know that goodnews also come out of Ikorodu community.

‘Abike Dabiri was recently endorsed as Chairman of the newly created Diaporan Commission, #CanAnythingGoodComeOutOfIkorodu, he queried.

Similarly, another excited resident, Rukky Onabanjo wrote, ‘finally, some positive news reflecting on Ikorodu. Congratulations, Mamma for always making us proud’.

‘I applaud Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa, she seems to be making a difference. I’m sure some may ask me who she help. She has helped me by keeping the flag of Ikorodu flying positively, especially in a world of gender sensitivity’, she submitted.

From all of us at Ikorodu Oga Radio, this is wishing Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa a successful tenure of office
