HELP, SAVE GANIYAT’S LIFE GROUP PLEADS WITH LAGOS STATE GOVERNOR, BABAJIDE SANWOOLU

The Impact Group special committee on #SaveGaniyatSanni campaign was has pleaded with the executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwoolu to intervene and save the life of a 17 year old secondary school girl, Ganityat whose two kidney has packed up and requires an urgent surgical operation.

The group, constituted on May 2nd, 2019, to raise funds for Ganiyat’s treatments including her weekly dialysis and ultimately, her kidney transplant has been mobilising fund for the sick girl for weeks.

The 17-year old Ganiyat is a student of Imota Senior Community Grammar School in Imota LCDA in Ikorodu Division Area of Lagos State, with two failed kidneys.

Ganiyat  currently requires compulsory dialysis of 4 hours per run, twice a week. Her neurologists consultant has advised that TRANSPLANT is the only best recomended treatment for her, if she must live a healthy life. Ganiyat’s mother is willing and ready to donate one of her kidneys to this cause. Miss Ganiyat Sanni needs you to come to her aide and make her dream of living a healthy life real. She is in a very critical condition obviously.

The committee led by Mrs Oluwafunke Awoyemi, after a brief phone conversation with the victim Ganiyat Sanni and her mother on Friday May 3rd 2019, established contact with the victim and family. Since then, several visits has been made to her Imoya residence and the hospital when she was on admission.  The group have also been able to raise fund for her weekly dialysis. We engaged her Lead nephrologist Consultant, Dr.T.I. Umeizudike of LASUTH on Saturday May 4th 2019, who gave us a brief overview into her case.

According to the group’s spokesperson,Mrs Oluwafunke Awoyemi, ‘Miss Ganiyat Sanni has been on treatment for systematic lupus erythematic (SLE) since 2015. She has now been diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) and in need of regular hemodialysis – twice weekly. Ganiyat Sanni needs N100, 000 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) for her double weekly dialysis. Undergoing the operation at LASUTH according to her Lead consultant will cost N8.5 million Naira (Eight Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira) excluding contingencies. Alternatively an approximate sum of $25, 000 (Twenty Five Thousand) is needed to cover the surgery, flight, feeding and accommodation for 3 persons in India’.

‘As a team, we earlier resolved that going to India is the best option considering the delicate position of her two kidneys, but based on recommendations from other specialist hospitals outside Nigeria, we agreed on Zenith Hospital in Abuja if the India trip will not be possible. The Hospital is the top on the list of recommended hospitals that can handle the surgery in Nigeria with proven records. We have established contact in this respect. She has been undergoing regular dialysis twice a week but it has now been reduced to once a week due to the huge cost involved’.

‘We are appreciative of the responses so far but we still have a long way to go in saving Ganiyat’s life. We are no appealing for urgent intervention in taking her into surgery in the next two weeks. Our expectation is that the government of Lagos State under the able leadership of Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu should take up Ganiyat’s case and give her a good life. We hope that the governor would treat our letter in this respect with the urgency it deserves’.

Mrs Awoyemi added that ‘Miss Ganiyat is very hopeful she can live normally if she gets the required assistance from you sir. We plead to the member of the public to make her smile and walk again. To raise the required fund, we have written to the government functionaries, ministries, local governments in Ikorodu and also contacted individuals and groups’.

Ganiyat’s mother has also appealed to the governor, through the representative of Ikorodu Constituency II, Hon.Nurudeen Solaja.

The group added that it was also using this medium to appeal to other public-spirited individuals and groups to please donate and save Ganiyat, while also thanking those that have contributed so far to the campaign.

Mrs Awoyemi siad the group is hopeful that the kind-hearted Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwoolu will respond to the group’s plea to save Ganiyat’s life.
