MASSIVE TRUN-OUT AS IKODASS FLAGS OFF 2019 IKORODU OGA DAY CELEBRATION WITH WALK-FOR-FITNESS

The entire major roads across Ikorodu community was literally locked down on Saturday, 19th October, 2019 when Ikorodu Oga Development Association, IKODASS and organizers of the annual Ikorodu Oga Day celebration flags off the 2019 edition of the socio-cultural event with a special rally tagged, IKODASS Walk-4-Fitness’.

IKODASS registered club members and associations, youths and community stakeholders trooped out in their numbers to participate in the annual walk, which usually herald the annual Ikorodu Oga Day event.

The fitness walk, sponsored by Ikorodu’s leading lounge, F1 Bar & Lounge and supported by Coca Cola’s Eva Water as official drink partners kicked off from the Ikorodu Town Hall, Owolowo/Olubi street towards Ita Elewa, Ireshe and Alhaji Street before terminating at Ojubode bus stop.

It was fun and excitements galore as choreographers and dancers displayed their skills to the admiration of everyone. Motorists and passersby also shared from the fun as some danced to the blaring music from the mobile DJ.

The procession later had a brief stop at the Ikorodu round about to take pictures with the statue of Oga, the progenitor of Ikorodu Kingdom.

The over 9kilometer walk later at the Ayangburen palace where the fitness instructors coordinated about 30 minutes of aerobics exercise and fitness dance.

The Agba Akin of Ikorodu and former commissioner for Information, Otunba Ayodele Elesho later received participants on behalf of the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi who was unavoidably absent.

Speaking, on behalf of the Ayangbure, Otunba Elesho commended those present at the walk, he also charged them to ensure they turn up in larger numbers during the Woro rally and other activities slated for the annual celebration, which kicks off on Saturday, November 9th.

Earlier, Otunba Abiru noted that ‘the idea behind the fitness walk was to sensitize all residents of Ikorodu about the forthcoming week-long Ikorodu Oga Day that will commence on 9th October, 2019’.

He added that the 2019 Ikorodu Oga Day celebrations will feature innovative programmes and activities like the formal launch of the Made-in-Ikorodu Business Directory, 5-Aside football competition, Spelling Bee & Schools Got Talents competition among other newly introduced activities.
