IKORODU COMMUNITY MEDIA PRACTITIONERS PAY CONDOLENCE VISIT TO THE FAMILY OF LATE VETERAN BROADCASTER, PA OLATUNJI OWOLABI

A group of Ikorodu based community media practitioners under the aegis of the Ikorodu Community Media Practitioners (IKOCOMP) have paid a condolence visit to the family of late Pa Owolabi, a veteran broadcaster with Radio Lagos, who passed away in Lagos recently.

The IKOCOMP delegation comprises of Prince Ganny Awobajo, Publisher, Ikorodu News, Kunle Adelabu, Publisher, Impact Communuty Newspaper and Shakiru Seidu, Publisher, Mega Expression Magazine. Others are Adedamola Aderibigbe, Publisher, Starlite Newspapers, Murishiku Olalekan, Publisher, Community Herald Newspaper.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Prince Awobajo eulogised the late Pa Owolabi, describing him as a veteran broadcaster and a professional journalist, whose love for the journalism profession is unprecedented. He noted that, despite retiring about 22 years ago, Pa Owolabi remained in active journalism service until he breathe his last breath two weeks ago, noting that they were together at his last professional assignment.

Kunle Adelabu in his brief remark described Pa Owolabi as a father-figure and mentor to the group and other upcoming journalists, lamenting that young journalists will miss his invaluable advise and professional mentoring.

The group concluded by encouraging the family to take solace in the fact that their Patriarch lived a fruitful and eventful life. The IKOCOMP delegation later requested that it be carried along in the burial programme of the late veteran journalist, so that the group can actively participate.

Speaking on behalf of the family, widow of the late broadcaster,  Mrs Modupe Owolabi commended the IKOCOMP delegation for the condolence visit. She also thanked them for identifying with the family in their trying period.

She further assured the visiting delegation that the family will carry them along once the family finalize the burial programme.
