ACCESS BANK SHUTS DOWN LIGALI AYORINDE BRANCH OVER CUSTOMER WHO TESTED POSITIVE TO COVID-19

The ravaging Covid-19 pandemic has dealt a big blow on the Nigeria banking sector, as Access Bank Nigeria PLC, a leading commercial bank in the country has shut down its one of its Lagos branches, located at Ligali Ayorunde street in Victoria Island.

According to a release from the bank, the decision was necessary to curtail the spread of the disease and to pave way for necessary disinfection and other safety measures to be put in place in the bank, before commercial activities resume back.

It was reported that a customer visited the branch on 16th March without showing any symptoms of the disease. He was later declared positive to the Covid-19 Virus.

An unofficial source claimed that, about 6-8 staff have also tested positive, hence forcing the bank’s management to shut down the branch, while other branch staffs have been advised to self isolate.

The bank has however encouraged its teeming customers who visited the bank on the said 16th March to self-isolate themselves and, if need get tested of the virus.

Meanwhile, customers of the bank’s branch have been asked to take advantage of the bank’s multiple online and social media platforms for their transaction foe the time being.
