EID-EL FITRI: OVER 1,000 IKORODU FAMILIES RECEIVE HON JIMI BENSON’S I-CARE FOOD BANK SUPPLIES

No fewer than 1,000 indigent families across Ikorodu  federal constituency has benefitted from the monthly I-Care food Bank support, sponsored by Hon. Babajimi Benson, Member, representing Ikorodu federal constituency at the House of Representatives.

The monthly  food bank support initiative has become a regular palliative of Hon. Benson who is the Chairman, House Committee on Defence since he launched the monthly initiative in October, 2015.

In compliance with the prevailing Covid-19 directive of the Federal and State governments, Hon Benson’s I-Care Foundation has adopted a direct-to-beneficiary home delivery strategy in the distribution of the food bags to thousands of beneficiaries across Ikorodu Division.

Beneficiaries of the food bags, which contained grocery, grains and other essential food stuffs were selected through an online nomination platform, via honjimibenson.com devoid of political ethnic or religious sentiments.

Speaking on this month’s Eid-el fitri food distribution, Director-General of the I-Care Foundation, Mayor Deen Sanwoola noted that, ‘the eid-el fitri I-Care food bag distribution is in line with Hon Jimi Benson’s aggressive campaign against hunger among his constituents, especially as Muslim faithfuls mark this year’s end of Ramadan season’, he said.

He added that, inspite of the distribution taking place ahead of the eid-el fitri celebration, many non-Muslims were also captured among beneficiaries of the gesture.

A beneficiary of the food bag support, who simply gave her name as Mama Dorcas has showered encomiums on Hon. Jimi Benson, describing him as a kind hearted politician.

The food distribution is coming against the backdrop of the outcry of hunger among many Nigerians, due to the protracted ‘lockdown’ of economic activities in the State, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
