INT’L YOUTH DAY: PUT YOUR DESTINY IN YOUR HANDS, OTUNBA GANIYU ABIRU CHARGES NIGERIAN YOUTHS

As countries around the world mark the year 2020 International Youths Day, tagged: Youth Engagement  for Global Action, a retired Clerk and Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State House of Assembly and a leading APC Senatorial Aspirant for Lagos East Senatorial District, Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru has charged Lagos State Youths to take their destiny in their own hands as change agents in the society.

Abiru gave the advice in a special congratulatory message to youths of Lagos State, Lagos East and Ikorodu Division in particular on Wednesday, 12th August.

The IKODASS Chiarman and passionate community leader also seized the opportunity to felicitate with  the new Lagos State NYCN Chairman, Comrade Lekan Oba and his state Executives on their recent election and inauguration.

Abiru also enjoined the youths to look beyond politics in there quest to make impact and contribute to societal development.

The full congratulatory message is reproduced below;

“It is a pleasing experience to join millions of people across the World to celebrate with the Youths of lkorodu division, Lagos east senatorial district, and the State in general, on the occassion of International Youth Day.

As we all know , it is a day for introspection and articulating strategy and plans in furtherance of Youth emancipation, growth and development.

A nation can resonate hope only if in its agenda, the welfare and interest of the Youths are given the deserved
attention.

The Youths constitute over 60% of the World population and therefore by nature have been assigned very serious roles in engendering peace, progress and development in their various Countries. They therefore must not be deceived by the mantra that, they are leaders of tomorrow.
The Youths’ time is NOW. The time to take your destiny in your hands is NOW

I should advise that the Youths’
Organizations must be well structured, objective and well focused. Politics is not the only way through which the Youths can succeed. Various organizations which have one bearing or the other with the youths must exorcise this misconception from their minds and enjoy the independence devoid of reliance on any political figure.

The youths of those days were *change agents* and I therefore enjoin the youths of today, not to sell their tomorrow on today’s plate or portage.
Youths must come up with various programmes that will reduce to the minimum, the incidents of cultism and other nefarious activities associated with them. The future is here and the World belongs to the *youths*. Explore and exploit it for your good and that of the Community.

All Youth Organizations must use their influence to educate nd inform their members of the need to play safe during this period that Covid 19 is on rampage.

I want to use this medium to congratulate the newly inaugurated National youths council executives in Lagos east senatorial district, and in particular the State Youth Chairman, Biliaminu Oba and various National Youth Councils coordinators in lkorodu Community and wish their tenure will signal a paradigm shift in furtherance of the good and progress of the youths”.

Once again,
Happy Interanational youth day!

Long live lkorodu youths.

Long live Lagos East Youths..

Long live Lagos State youths.

Long live Nigeria youths.

Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru Chairman, Ikorodu Oga Development Association (JKODASS)
