IKORODU LGA INAUGURATES ALH. JAMIU ADIO SAKA-LED ITA-ELEWA SHOPPING COMPLEX MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

The Wasiu Adeshina-led Ikorodu Local Government administration in collaboration with his counterparts in the other five (5) Local council development Areas has inaugurated an 11-Man Management Committee to oversee the effective administration of the Ita-Elewa Shopping Complex, built 1n 1992, by the Late Chief Dele Kuti administration when Ikorodu division was still under a single local government administration.

The Complex, built to serve as a major business and commercial hub in the community has been under utilized and is hardly patronized by residents.

Addressing selected guests at the inauguration, Hon Adeshina stated that, ‘The Ita-Elewa Shopping Complex is our property, the management of the Plaza should be our utmost priority, to make sure that the Shopping Complex yield sustainable economic development for Ikorodu local Government. It is our collective responsibility to make it a worthwhile investment so it will stand the test of time’.

He added that, ‘ The Committee that will administer the Shopping Complex had been carefully selected among the Local Government and the Five (5) Local Cohncil Development Areas (LCDAs). The Committee is to ensure optimal use of the Complex, by bringing more people into the Complex’.

Adeshina stressed that the commitee will oversee the administration of the Complex, they will have a 2 Year tenure, renewable and are expected to have their meeting at least, twice quarterly

The Commitee is made up of an Insurance guru and Lawyer, Alhaji Jamiu Adio Saka, a former Ikorodu LGA Chairman, Mrs Benosn, a former LASUBEB Chiarman, Alh Waheed Owokodu, former Ikorodu LGA SLG, Rev’d Odusoga and Hon Gbenga Oshin, a former Member, Lagos State House of Assembly.

Other members of the Commitees are, Mr Shakirudeen Ajibade Ajala, Mr Adewusi Sulaiman and Mr Adebayo Kazeem Babatunde. The Committee also have one person each, representing the occupants of the Complex and First Bank Nigeria PLC that financed the project.

The Committee was subsequently administered the oath of office by the Ikorodu LGA Legal Officer, Barr. (Mrs) Ajenifuja to signal the official inuagurartion of the Commitee Members.

In his remarks at the event, Executive Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon Adeola Adebisi Banjo commended the choice of the Committee members and their pedigrees. He however urged occupants of the Shopping Complex to cooperate with the Committee so that they can discharge their dutues successfully.

Responding on behalf of the Committee Members, Alh Saka appreciated the Chairmen for giving him and the Committee members the honour to serve and contribute to the development of the division.

He further assured the Chairmen as well as all stakeholders that the Commitee will ensure that they deliver in their new assignment. He also appealed to all stakeholders, especially occupants of the Complex to see his Committee as partners-in-progress by supporting its success.

The Committee has a 10-point terms of reference which includes, the smooth running of the Complex and recovery of all outstanding debts by occupants of the Plaza among others.
