IKORODU GRA 2 RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION ENDORSES APC LAGOS EAST SENATORIAL CANDIDATE, MR TOKUNBO ABIRU

Ahead of the forthcoming October 31st Senatorial Bye-Election, residents of Ikorodu GRA 2, located along Ebute-Ibeshe road have endorsed the candidate of the ruling, All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Tokunbo Mukhail Abiru. The endorsement of the APC candidate took place when the residents association, under tge aegis of the Ikorodu GRA Phase 2 CDA, compropising of Zonee A-E paid him a courtesy visit st his country home, located within the Estate.

Leading other residents on the visit was the CDA Chairman, Mr Deji Dosunmu who spoke on behalf of the residents.

‘We don’t want money from you. What we want is for you to use your goodwill and connection to facilitate development of GRA Phase 2, the same way tye GRA Phase 1 is a place to be proud of. There are threebthings you can do to assist us, and if you are abke to do tgese three things, you can ge rest assured that we will mobilize our residents to vire massively for you’, he said.

‘Firstly, we want good network of tarred roads that is befitting of a GRA indeed. The government representatives from the Ministry of Works were here about two years ago. Secondly, we need good drainage systems, as our houses are currently been threatened by flooding. This is a project that is already on the government table, all we want you to do is to please, help us push its implementation. Finally, we need transformers, most of the time, we are in blackout, due to the age of our transformers. If you can do these three things for us, we will forever be grateful to you’, he added.

The CDA further promised to shift its monthly CDA meeting backwards, by one week so as to create room for residents to come out and vote massively for tue APC candidate.

Responding, Abiru commended the CDA for making time out to pay him the courtesy and endorsement visit to him. He equally appreciated them for the show of love and the spirit of good neighbourliness displayed by the CDA through the visit.

‘I want to appreciate the CDA for this show of love. I also want to commend you for promoting the spirit of good neighbourliness, as demonstrated in the speech of the CDA Chairman, Mr Dosumu and the manner in which he gas marshaled the needs of the entire CDA. I understand the value of good neighbourliness and will be willing to create time to be actively involved in your activities’, he noted.

Abiru also took his guests and immediate neighbours down memory lqne to his involvement in CDA activities since his young age when his late father, Justice Abiru was the CDA Chairman Gbagada Residents Association and how the CDA activities fostered good neighbourliness and unity among residents, irrespective of their social, religious and ethnic leanings.

Responding to questions on legacy, from Omo’ba ‘Peju Akinyemi, a GRA 2 resident, notable community journalist and Founder /CEO, Ikorodu Oga Radio, who was part of the delegation, Abiru promised to sustain the good name and credibility of the Abiru family, if elected into office.

‘I have traversed the length and breadth of Lagos East District and have seen the level of poverty among our people, particularly women and youths. To this end, I am currently working with a Consultant to establish a foundation that will provide economic empowerment for the less privileged. I want to be remembered for putting smiles on the faces of the people’, he stated.

He concluded by assuring his guests that, his 32 years professional banking experience which climaxed with his leadership of Polaris Bank, with over 8, 000 staffs and depositors fund worth over 1Thrillion naira were all training grounds that prepared him for his current political sojourn.

Some of the distinguished residents that were part of tge visit includes, Arch Taiwo Kara, Alh Monzor Olowosago and Alh Mudtapha Fatai, Chairman F1 Bar & Lounge, among other CDA Executifes and residents.
