‘I HAVE NO HANDS IN IKORODU CENTRAL LGA LEGISLATIVE CRISIS’- HON JIMI BENSON

Following allegations from certain quarters that, Member, representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the house of representatives,  Hon Babajimi Benson is the brain behind the current leadership crisis rocking the newly inaugurated Ikorodu central legislative house, the soft spoken and dynamic lawmaker has denied the allegation, describing it as a tissue of lies from political detractors, who are threatened by his series of giant strides and political accomplishments.

Hon. Benson made this clarification, while speaking to Ikorodu Oga Radio on the allegation, which first surfaced on a popular Ikorodu based whatsapp platform. The allegation, which generated heated arguments among some members of the platform surfaced when one ‘Olokunola’ alleged that the executive chairman of the council, Hon Wasiu Adeshina claimed he got a call from JB, as he is fondly called, to ensure that the controversial election is discredited, for not producing Hon Wale Oshodi, a.k.a Gino who was the favoured candidate.

In his words, Hon Benson stated that ‘ “I am a thorough-bred democrat, a man of integrity, I would never step into an election that is supposed to be held among elected councillors. On that day, I was very busy in parliament, voting on very serious national issues. I was never called by Adeshina, neither did I call him. I don’t even know how that came about’.

He further declared that,’ this is probably the handwork of detractors, who are envious of the Grace of God on my political career and some people who are either jealous of our humble achievements in the last two years or those who are threatened by our political giant strides. Ordinarily,  I wouldnt have dignified those who made the allegation with a response, but for the need to put records straight and clear our good name from those who want to drag it into the mud, which is their own natural habitat’.

Hon Jimi Benson stated this on the sideline of the July ration of his JB I-Care food bank, a monthly free food distribution programme, aimed at alleviating hunger among his teeming constituents across Ikorodu division. The initiative,  which has been applauded by many, within and outside Ikorodu division, as second to none was launched in October, 2016 to commemorate the year’s world food day event.

Hon Benson further used the occasion to assure Muslim faithfuls that the last ration of the second batch food distribution will be done before the forthcoming Eid-el Kabir, otherwise known as Ileya festival in the south west.

About 300 indigent people, comprising of widows, aged and needy have consistently benefited from the legislator’s monthly philanthropic gestures since inception.
