IKORODU-SAGAMU ROAD: FG PLEADS WITH RESIDENTS FOR MORE PATIENCE

The agonies and trauma being experienced by regular road users and residents of Ikorodu-Sagamu road axis seems to have reached the ears of the federal government of Nigeria. This indication was made by the executive chairman of Ikorodu local government, Hon Wasiu Adeshina recently.

Adeshina made the disclosure at the 2017 commemoration of World Food Day and the first anniversary of the I-Care food bank, sponsored by Hon Babajimi Benson, member representing Ikorodu federal constituency at the green chamber.

He said’ ‘I must commend must commend Hon Jimi Benson for his steadfastness in representing Ikorodu constituency at the house of representatives. Recently, we received a federal government delegation who visited Ikorodu to appeal to us on the deplorable state of the Ikorodu-Sagamu road. I’m certain, this happened as a result of Hon Benson’s efforts over there in Abuja’.

Hon Adeshina further hinted that the delegation, led by a director in the federal ministry of works appealed for understanding and more patience from residents of Ikorodu people, with the assurance that, once the contract paper leaves the tender board, work will commence on the road, in earnest.

It would be recalled that, the Ikorodu-Sagamu road has become a thorn in the flesh of residents and road users, due to its deplorable state. Hon Babajimi Benson had recently assured residents of the commitment of the federal government to rehabilitate the road as contained in the 2017 budget.
