HELP YOUR CHILDREN, TEENAGERS TO THINK OUT OF THE BOX , OTUNBA ABIRU CHARGE PARENTS, GUARDIANS

A call has gone out to parents to assist their wards to start thinking creatively and out-of-the-box, if they must make a success out of their future life endeavours. Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru, Chairman Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS) gave this charge while delivering his speech as Chairman at the grand finale of ‘You Think You Can Sing’ Music Challenge, orgainsed by Ikorodu Oga Radio & TV.

He also charged parents and guardians to move close to their children and develop sensitivity to the latent talents that these children may possess, in order to be able to harness their talents for optimum developments.

Otunba Abiru stressed that, gone are the days when talented people, especially musicians were regarded as charlatans and illiterates. He cited instances where many contemporary musicians and celebrities currently making waves across the country are also well educated.

‘The times we are in require our children to start thinking out of the box, for them to make a success out of their future endeavours. This goes beyond only academics. As parents, we must be sensitive to identify our children’s unique gifts so we can assist them develop it’. When next you see your child hitting sticks on empty tin container, instead of shouting on them, you should realize such a child has talent for drumming and try to encourage him or her, He said.

As a demonstration of his support for the initiative, Otunba Abiru pledged a handsome donation of the sum of One Hundred Thousand Naira Only to support the project.

Meanwhile, 15 year old, Miss Sunmisola Agbebi emerged winner of the music challenge,  carting home the star prize of N50,000 and a tablet, 11 year old Daniel James emerged first runners up while 15 years old Tunmise Johnson emerged second runners at the keenly contested competition.

Other finalists include Oyinkansola Taiwo, Isaac Peju-Akinyemi and Opeyemi Ademoye who came fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
