EMULATE IKORODU YOUTHS, CP EDGAL CHARGE YOUTHS ACROSS LAGOS STATE, AS REPENTANT CULTISTS SUBMIT ARMS

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Imohimi Edgal has advised youths across the state to emulate the youths of Ikorodu who recently renounced cultism and subsequently submitted their arms and ammunitions to the police in public glare at the Ayangbure Palace Ikorodu on Monday 12th February, 2018.

He stated this while making a short speech at the event tagged, Ikorodu for Peace, facilitated by the leader of Onyabo local vigilante group, led by Mr Lanre Labinjo under the auspices of Ikorodu for Peace.

Edgal said, ‘I am happy to be in your midst today. Ikorodu has somewhat become my second home. Anytime I come to Ikorodu, I always come for something positive. I am happy our youths in Ikorodu have decided to renounce cultism and lay down their arms and ammunition. I implore youths across Lagos state to emulate the positive actions taken today by Ikorodu youths’.

The CP also admonished the repentant cultists to shun drugs and narcotics saying that those peddling the banned products are enemies of the youths who are only out to destroy their lives and future.

Imohimi aadded that he has directed the Area Commander of Area N as well as all DPOs in Ikorodu to give adequate attention and treat any information given to them by the repentant cultists with dispatch.

Members of Eiye, Aye and Bucaneer fraternities in Ikorodu who were hosted to a Ramadan Lecture by the Ayangbure of Ikorodu in 2017 has through the event demonsrated in practical terms, their readiness to embrace peace and work for the peace of the community.

Speaking at the event, Lanre Labinjo, Coordinator, Ikorodu for Peace and Leader of Onyabo Vigilante group also commended Oba Shotobi for supporting the peace initiative. He also thanked Hon Babajimi Benson and Hon SOB Agunbiade for their moral and financial supports.

Labinjo however warned the repentant cultists not to go back to cultism, assuring that, anyone of them who goes back to cultism should be ready to face the full wrath of the law.

However, leaders of the repentant cultists, represented by Afeez Solebo complained to the Commissioner of Police about maltreatment of its repentant members by the police authorities in Ikorodu. Edgal in his response assured that all the issues raised will be fully attended to.

Earlier, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi who was joined at the event by the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali thanked the Ikorodu for Peace team for the initiative. He also commended the Commissioner of police for creating time to personally receive the arms submitted by the repentant cultists.
