2024 IKORODU OGA DAY ROYAL BANQUET: AYANGBUREN OF IKORODU EULOGIZES ANIKE ADEKANYE, TG/PS EDUCATION DISTRICT II

The Ayangburen of Ikorodu Land, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi has described the Tutor-General Permanent Secretary Education District II, Mrs. Anike Adekanye, as an achiever, noting her exceptional commitment to excellence in the field of education.

He further stated that since Mrs. Adekanye had assumed duty in the District, her exemplary leadership style and excellent administrative prowess have inspired and motivated both teachers and students to always aim for the top.

The Monarch gave the commendation in his remarks at conferment ceremony of Mrs. Adekanye with the ‘IKODASS FELLOW AWARD’ in recognition of her immense contribution and outstanding achievement in the development of education in Ikorodu by the Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS) on Sunday in Ikorodu.

He said, “I am honoured to present you with this award. Your dedication and impact are truly inspiring and a source of motivation for all of us. You have been ordained as a daughter of Ikorodu. This award celebrates your exceptional contributions and commitment to excellence in education, community service, and innovation”.

Receiving the Award, Mrs. Adekanye expressed gratitude to Oba Shotobi for his leadership and fatherly role since her assumption of office, stating that he has been a pillar of support for the development of education in Ikorodu.

“Your support and encouragement, as well as your fatherly role, has given the district the room to continue to excel”, she emphasised.

Mrs. Adekanye expressed profound gratitude to the Monarch and the Ikorodu Oga Development Association for deeming her fit for the prestigious award of FELLOW OF IKODASS.

She acknowledged the dedication and commitment of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu in providing an enabling environment for the development of Education in Education District II and Lagos State in general.

Speaking further, she appreciated the unparalleled support of the Deputy Governor, Dr Kadiri Obafemi Hazmat and the Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Ali-Balogun for education in the state.

Acknowledging the contributions of Teachers and Principals of the division for their selflessness and dedication to service, she noted that all the accolades given to her could not have been possible without them.

“This award is not for me alone but for all of us. It is your immense contribution and commitment that has earned us this achievement”, she affirmed.

The IKODASS FELLOW AWARD, according to the Chairman of the association, Mr. Rotimi Erogbogbo, was designed to honour individuals and groups who have demonstrated extraordinary achievements that benefited the Ikorodu community. Hence, Mrs. Adekanye has achieved notable success as the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District II, noting that her work has not only set a high standard but has also inspired peers and community members to pursue excellence at all times.

Some of the notable achievements by District II under the recipient’s stewardship included Three-Day Governors & two One-Day Deputy Governors in Lagos State, winning two One-Day Governors Back to back and three Winners of Teachers/Administrators’ National Awards in three Years. In 2019, the District won the Overall Best Teacher in Nigeria, Best Senior Public Secondary School in Nigeria 2020, Best Senior Secondary School Teacher in Nigeria 2021, Overall Best Public School Administrator 2023 and Nigeria and the Most Outstanding Education District 2024 among others.
