The grand finale of the 2024 Isiu Eweye Day Celebration, held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, brought remarkable joy and pride to the people of Isiu as His Royal Majesty, Oba Olukayode David Raji (JP), The Eweye of Isiu, commissioned a 2-kilometer network of roads.
The event, which showcased Isiu’s rich cultural heritage and development, highlighted the collaborative efforts of the Ikorodu North LCDA Chairman, Builder Adéọlá Adebisi Banjọ, alongside other notable leaders committed to community progress.
While delivering the vote of thanks, Builder Adéọlá Adebisi Banjọ expressed deep gratitude to all stakeholders, dignitaries, and visitors for making the 2024 Isiu Eweye Day celebration a resounding success. He pledged continued support from his administration towards developmental initiatives in the community, particularly through partnerships with ISEDASS, ensuring that Isiu continues to experience positive growth under his watch.
The event which climaxed with the formal commissioning of roads facilitated through the intervention of Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, Member of the House of Representatives for Ikorodu Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, was described as a significant milestone in the infrastructural development of the area. HRM Oba Olukayode David Raji, in his address, praised the developmental contributions of Rep. Benson while also acknowledging the leadership and support of Builder Adéọlá Adebisi Banjọ for his unwavering commitment to the growth of Isiu and the entire Ikorodu North LCDA.
Banjọ, who graced the event with his team, described the commissioning of the road as a testament to the collaborative synergy between traditional leadership and grassroots governance. In his remarks, he emphasized that the development of road infrastructure will foster connectivity, enhance economic activities, and improve the quality of life for residents of Isiu. He congratulated The Eweye of Isiu and the Isiu Eweye Development Association (ISEDASS) for their proactive efforts in driving sustainable progress and promoting the cultural identity of the Isiu community.
The Director General of iCARE Foundation, who represented Hon. Benson at the event, extended the Representative’s apologies for his absence and reassured attendees of his dedication to infrastructural development across Ikorodu Division. He noted that the road commissioning is only the beginning, as well-constructed road networks will trigger further connectivity within Isiu and adjoining communities.
The occasion was further elevated by High Chief Adewunmi Adedeji Ogunsanya, Chairman of Multichoice Nigeria Ltd. and the Odofin Erujeje of Ikorodu Division, who announced a generous donation of ten million naira to support the initiatives of ISEDASS. His donation was complemented by additional contributions from Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru, reflecting a shared commitment to community advancement.
The event culminated with refreshments, entertainment, and capacity-building activities, symbolizing the unity and progressive spirit of the people of Isiu. Builder Banjọ’s presence and active participation underscored his administration’s dedication to grassroots development and his enduring partnership with traditional institutions to transform Ikorodu North LCDA.
