
The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Builder Adebisi Adeola Banjo-led administration today parleys critical
Ikorodu North LCDA Stakeholders at the 2025 Budget Consultative Forum to chart course for the 2025 Budget.
Stakeholders, comprising residents, community leaders, and government representatives gathered at the Council’s Legislative and Multipurpose Hall to deliberate on the council’s developmental agenda for the new year.
The forum provided a platform for collective dialogue and active participation of stakeholders in shaping the LCDA’s priorities for the forthcoming fiscal year.
Setting the tone for the day, Hon. Adeshina Akinyemi, the Council’s Supervisor for Budget, welcomed attendees and highlighted the importance of the consultative forum as a critical tool for inclusivity and transparency.
Similarly, Mr. Olusola Bakare, Head of the Budget Department explained that the 2025 budget would build upon the successes of 2024, with a strong focus on infrastructure consolidation and development.
In his keynote address, Builder Adéọlá Adebisi Banjọ underscored the significance of stakeholders engagement in effective governance.
‘Today’s consultation represents a vital component of our governance philosophy: a participatory approach where every voice counts in shaping the development of our beloved Ikorodu North LCDA’, he said.
Reflecting on the achievements of 2024, he noted progress in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and security, while also emphasizing the importance of addressing gaps to ensure sustainable growth.
The forum was characterized with vibrant contributions from stakeholders from various sectors.
Leader of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Mr. Jackson Ayika, commended the Banjo’s leadership while advocating for initiatives such as a free internet center for youths, funding for youth programs, and a regular imprest to enable the Youth Council to function effectively.
Prince Niran Ogunbanwo, Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC), urged the council to intensify lobbying efforts for state government interventions in local schools, such as Lasunwon, Akaun, and Eruwen, and the completion of critical road projects, including Oju Emuren and Idera-Agbede roads. He highlighted the urgent need for improved facilities at Agbede Secondary School, where students currently sit on bare floors. He also appealed for state and federal solutions to the deteriorating Itoikin and Sagamu roads.
Chief Olayiwola Adeowo, Baale of Orija, who spoke on behalf of traditional chiefs promised to submit a formal letter outlining their inputs from the 2025 within the week.
Similarly, Hon. Festus Adekunle Ogunbela, a former Executive Chairman of the LCDA, advocated for the acquisition of road graders to ensure timely and efficient maintenance of untarred roads in the Council area.
Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ikorodu North LCDA proposed inter-religious meetings to promote religious harmony, while the Chief Imam of Ikorodu North LCDA called for greater recognition and support from the council.
In a heartfelt address, Dr. Muhydeen Adeola Jokomba, State Secretary of the Lagos APC and former Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, commended Builder Banjọ’s administration, describing him as “Mr. Talk and Do.”
Jokomba cited the Legislative and Multipurpose Hall building where the forum held as a testament to the Banjo-led administration’s achievements.
The Party Scribe however advocated for better remuneration for the Baales and the provision of a bus for their use. He also emphasized the importance of linking rural roads to boost accessibility and development across the LCDA.
Responding to the stakeholders, Builder Adéọlá Adebisi Banjọ reassured the gathering of his administration’s commitment to addressing their concerns. He pledged to purchase a bus for the Baales in 2025 and committed to implementing some of the youth council’s requests. He also assured the CDC that their recommendations would be integrated into plans to attract more state and federal government interventions.
The Council boss urged all stakeholders to submit detailed requests to the Budget Office within a week for consideration.
The forum ended on a high note, with many attendees expressing renewed confidence in Builder Banjọ’s leadership. The transformative achievements of his administration, including infrastructural development and empowerment programs, were cited as evidence of a clear commitment to the progress of Ikorodu North LCDA.
The well-attended event was graced key stakeholders, including the council’s management team, legislative arm, and political leaders such as Otunba Olasunkanmi Tijani, Hon. Ogunbela, Hon. Iyiola, Hon. Salawu, and Alhaji Odidi. Representatives from trade unions, artisans, religious bodies, traditional chiefs, youth organizations, and security agencies also participated, demonstrating a collective resolve to drive development in the LCDA.
