It was excitement galore at the Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat Hall yesterday when the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon Wasiu Adeshina announced improved welfare packages for members of staff.
The Council Chairman also announced that he will purchase a brand-new staff bus to alleviate the movements of staff to and from work as a way of cushioning the cost of transportation.
Adeshina stated that the improved welfare packages were necessary as impetus to encourage the council staff to work harder towards achieving the objectives of the council in 2025.
The Council Chairman equally used the opportunity to highlight some of the past welfare programs his administration has embarked upon, which includes, presentation of official vehicles, office furniture and introduction of monthly stipend to alleviate the current economic reality, occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government.
Responding on behalf of the staff, NULGE Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, Com. Adebambo Oriyomi Kazeem applauded Hon. Adeshina for his commitment to staff welfare while pledging the support of the staff for his administration.
Com. however admonished his colleagues to reciprocate the gesture of the Council Chairman by being diligent on their duty posts.
A major highlight of the day was a special Inter-denominational Prayer Session led by the duo of Sheikh Imam Shakirudeen of the Iradat Islamic Society and his Christian counterpart, Pst. Femi Gilbert of the Daylight Revival Church International, Ikorodu.
In their separate ministrations, the clergy men led the members of staff in prayers, while charging them to embrace the fear of God in the discharge of their duties.
Muslim and Christian faithfuls also sang various religious praise and worship songs to express their gratitude to God.
They equally expressed their heartfelt appreciate to the Council Chairman by singing for him.
The event was graced by the Vice Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, Secretary to the Local Government, Hon Lateef Afinnih and Acting Council Manager, Mrs. Olunuga Tumuninu and other Management staffs.
Other dignitaries at the event were the APC Chairman Ikorodu Local Government, Alh. Waheed Animashaun, Divisional Party Secretary, Hon. Kehinde Ayanbadejo and a host of other party Chieftains.
