The Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative (IDPIL) has flagged off the commencement of a week-long activities marking its third anniversary with a significant donation of 40 KVA Generator and three split unit air-conditioners to the Immigration Service Passport Office in Igbogbo.
Speaking on the donated items, Executive Secretary of IDPIL, Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru explained that the items were meant to support the service in enhancing efficient and effective service delivery to the people of Ikorodu Division.
‘IDPIL believes that this contribution will significantly improve the working conditions and productivity of the Immigration Service, ultimately benefiting the entire Ikorodu Division community’.
Abiru also emphasized that the donation was not a one-time gesture stressing that IDPIL is committed to supporting the Immigration Service and other organizations that serve the people of Ikorodu Division.
He reiterated that the organization will continue to provide assistance to ensure the effective discharge of public service to the satisfaction of the community.
Chairman of IDPIL Board of Trustees and the Odofin of Ikorodu Kingdom, Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya expressed gratitude to the federal government for establishing an immigration office in Ikorodu, and emphasized the community’s commitment to supporting the success of the Immigration Service.
He noted that the impact of the Passport Office has been swift, with one individual remarking that they processed and obtained a passport within three days.
Ogunsanya also encouraged any organization with needs or concerns to reach out to the body, expressing its willingness to provide support that would make life easy for residents.
The Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali in his brief remarks expressed his heartfelt gratitude to God Almighty for making the presentation of the equipment a reality.
He extended his appreciation to IDPIL for their commitment and devotion to the overall development of Ikorodu Division.
The monarch testified that the activities of the body has brought numerous benefits to the entire Ikorodu Division, including enhanced security, health, education, and social improvement.
He also expressed gratitude to the government of Nigeria, led by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for establishing the facility in Ikorodu division.
While acknowledging the progress made, Adeboruwa emphasized the need for continued support, noting that there were still more needs to be met to enable the office to effectively serve the community.
Vice Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, Hon. Nuraini Okedina-Maja, who represented the Executive Chairman, Hon Sesan Daini also expressed appreciation to IDPIL noting that IDPIL donation has had tremendous value to the Igbogbo Passport Office.
Mrs. Yakub Abidemi, representing the Passport Control Office (PCO), Mr Muyiwa Odunubi expressed appreciation to the IDPIL, describing the items donated as ‘wonderful gift you have given us.’
She noted that the donation of a 40kva generator and three air conditioners by IDPIL to the Immigration Service in Ikorodu Division marked a significant milestone in the organization’s commitment to supporting community development and enhancing service delivery.
She conveyed a message of appreciation from the Honorable Minister, Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the Comptroller-General, Mrs. Nana Kemisola, expressing their gratitude for the timely support.
She assured seamless service delivery at the Igbogbo Passport Office, acknowledging the office’s limitations and hinting on the need for additional space.
The event climaxed with the formal presentation and handing-over of the items to the representatives of the Service by Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya and supported by the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, IDPIL Executive Secretary and other dignitaries in attendance.
