Dignitaries today, poured encomium on Hon. Ogunleye Gbolahan Adetokunbo, member Lagos State House of Assembly, Ikorodu Constituency 1, who celebrated his 50th birthday today.
Unlike other individuals of his status who would have thrown a society event to mark the milestone, Ogunleye, popularly called OGA chose to mark his 50th Birthday with women from various parts of his constituency with financial grant of N50,000.00 each.
Similarly, Ogunleye also had a second leg of the celebration at the House Chloe Orphanage Home in Ipakodo, where he celebrated with the children in the home by supporting them with various food items.
In his brief remark before the presentation of the cash support, Ogunleye noted that he chose to mark his milestone 50th Birthday in a low-key manner, as a way of showing empathy with the people, in the light of the current economic reality in the country.
He added that, he decided to convert the funds that could have gone into partying, towards empowering selected indigent women across the Ikorodu Constituency 1.
The State Lawmaker however, advised the beneficiaries to invest the grant into their businesses and not use it for merry-making.
He equally emphasized the need for the women to encourage their children to embrace Vocational skills to compliment their formal education, noting that times have changed and that certain digital and vocational skills are now in high demand, in the labour market, over mere certificates.
‘I use my birthday to give back to the society and also express my joy for having both of my parents alive at this age, I’m so grateful” said by Hon. Gbolahan.
Wife of the State Lawmaker, Mrs Damilola Ogunleye expressed appreciation on behalf of her husband and entire family for their presence and support.
The charity birthday event was graced by the APC Chairman, Ikorodu West LCDA, a former Secretary to Ikorodu Local Government, Com. Japhet Odesanya and the Ikorodu Division APC Party Secretary, Mr Kehinde Ayanbadejo among other dignitaries.
