In a bid to strengthen the chances of its party candidate for the Lagos state governorship elections, the All Progressives Congress, APC has launched a grassroots mobilization group tagged, Sanwo-Olu Footsoldiers in Ikorodu division.
As the forthcoming general elections in Lagos state draws closer, the leadership of the ruling party, APC and the Babajide Sanwo-olu campaign organization are not leaving any stone unturned to ensure victory for the party’s governorship candidate and other candidates of the party in the forthcoming elections.
This indication became apparent with the formal inauguration of the Babajide Sanwoolu Foot Soldiers launched in Ikorodu Division on Tuesday 29th January 2019 at the Ikorodu local government hall.
Speaking at the formal inauguration of the group in Ikorodu, Central Coordinator of Sanwoolu Foot Soldiers, Ikorodu Division, Hon. Saheed Ibikunle has described the launch of the Sanwoolu Foot Soldiers as a means to ensure resounding victory for the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidates in the forthcoming election.
Hon. Ibikunle stated that, ‘APC being the leading party is not leaving any stone unturned to guarantee victory in the election. One of our strategies for victory is the Foot Soldiers initiative designed for door-to-door campaign and persuasion of the electorates against apathy’.
“We want to have 70% higher votes than what we had in the last elections, for APC in Ikorodu local government. This year is going to be different and we are working hard to achieve that.” he said.
Hon. Ibikunle further urged the newly inaugurated footsoldiers, consisting of three (3) representatives from each of the thirty (30) wards in Ikorodu division to avoid violence. He admonished them to emulate their leader, Mr Babajide Sanwoolu, the party’s gubernatorial candidate who remained calm and collected in the midst of provocation.
The State Director of Sanwoolu Foot Soldiers, Otunba Akin Ibesanmi, commended the Ikorodu foot-soldiers for their impressive turnout, organization and zeal for the party. He reiterated that the aim of the initiative was for all APC candidates to win in the coming elections and the weapon they have is their PVCs.
Hon. Ibesanmi also called the ‘field marshal’ told the youths to also use their social media platforms to creat awareness for the party and encourage the residents to get their PVCs and vote for all APC candidates in the coming elections.
Hon Adesina Wasiu, executive chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, who also graced the occasion appealed to residents to vote for all APC candidates with and promised the foot-soldiers that he would execute a major project in the ward that has the highest number of votes for the party in the forthcoming elections.
