The executive chairman of Ikorodu local government, under the leadership of Hon Wasiu Adeshina has revealed that his administration will embark upon the construction of a legislative building for the legislative arm of the local government.
Adeshina noted that the current legislative chamber, where he presented the 2021 budget to the legislators was too small and not ideal for serious business of legislation hence, the plan to build a befitting legislative building for the legislators as proposed in the 2021 budget.
The council chair made this known on Monday, 22nd February when he presented the 2021 budget proposal to the legislators. Other major highlights of the budget proposal includes the rehabilitation of Etunrenren road and building of a block of six (6) classrooms at Oga Primary School, Ikorodu. Others are construction of Vocational Centre at Agura, repair of NULGE and Local government Revenue Buses among other capital projects and empowerment initiatives.
The 2021 budget proposal tagged, Budget of Rejuvenation is a total of N1, 771, 315, 8489.44) One Billion, Seven Hundred and Seventy One Thousand, Three Hundred and Fifteen Million, Eight Hundred and Forty Nine Thousand, Forty Four Kobo).
The Chairman noted that, ‘the projected internally generated revenue for this year is N98,000,000.00 (Ninety Eight Million Naira Only), while the State coordinated IGR is estimated to be N25,000,000.00 (Twenty Five Million Naira Only), totaling N123,000,000 internally generated revenue projection’.
‘The Value Added Tax (VAT) is estimated at N1, 120,715, 677.34) One Billion, One Hundred and Twenty Million Naira, Seven Hundred and Fifteen Thousand, Six Hundred and Seventy-Seven Naira, Thirty Four Kobo’, he added.
The projected federal statutory allocation for the year was estimated at N357, 543, 944.03) Three Hundred and Fifty Seven Million, Nine Hundred and Forty Four Naira, Three Kobo.
According to Hon Adeshina, 2021budhget proposal has also been drafted to address the spate of insecurity in the local government.
‘The security situation in Ikorodu will soon improve as the local government will soon inaugurate the Joint Security Patrol along with the provision of three (3) patrol vans’, he concluded.
Responding on behalf of the legislators, Leader Ikorodu Legislative Chamber, Hon Issa Salman Ayobami assured the Chairman and all stakeholders in attendance that the legislatures will give the budget proposal a thorough scrutiny and timely approval.
He also commended Hon Adeshina for the infrastructural projects being carried out under his leadership, particularly the rehabilitation of the council secretariat building.
