IKORODU DIVISION PEACE INITIATIVE ENGAGES TRADE UNIONS IN IKORODU TO ENGENDER SECURITY, PEACE AND COMMERCE

The Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative LTD/GTE (IDPILG) led by Odofin of Ikorodu, Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya, SAN has held a stakeholders meeting with registered trade unions in Ikorodu Division.

The meeting which was at the behest of the IDPILG afforded the body and trade unions leaders to brainstorm on areas of possible partnerships that can assist the organization in maintaining security, peace and commerce across the Division.

The Organization among other things wants the leadership of the trade unions to reconsider the importance of peace, towards ensuring security of lives and properties, discourage rising waves of crime and other shades of criminalities to promote community development and commerce..

Speaking at the meeting held on Thursday 20th of January, 2022 at the Pavillon, Ayangburen Palace, Ikorodu, Otunba Amid Adekunle Oduborisa FNES, who also doubles as the Chairman, Fundraising and Formal Launch Planning Committee of the organization said, IDPILG is a community initiative and a ‘child of necessity’ inspired by the rising wave of crime and general state of insecurity within Ikorodu Division in the recent time, especially the nefarious activities of cult groups, land grabbers and some other miscreants.

He admonished the trade union leaders to partner with IDPILG in the pursuit and fulfilment of its corporate goals, just as the organization in return is ready to give them all necessary support.

“We need to understand where we are, where we are coming from in order to appreciate where we are going. IDPILG is a product of good thinking of our royal fathers in Ikorodu Division which culminated into the formation of the organization. We would continue to hold the peace and security of the entire Ikorodu Division in high esteem,” he stated.

Oduborisha explained further that the organization is set to establish a new local joint security architecture for the betterment of citizens of the division christened ‘Local Joint Task Force (LJTF)’.

Some of the leaders of the trade union present at the meeting were expressed their joy at the establishment of the body. They also offered suggestions on how the organization can better perform their duties.

The meeting was also attended by some notable members of the IDPILG. They include, Sir (Otunba) Ayodele Elesho, Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru, Rev. (Col) Bolaji Titilola Onafowokan Rtd, Alhaji Lukman Sonibare, Mr. Salami Awolaru T.H, to mention but a few.

Some of the trade unions in Ikorodu Division present at the meeting were Association of Professional Printers of Nigeria (ASSPPON), National Association of Hair Dressing and Cosmetology (NASHCO) Ikorodu Branch, Theatre-Art and Motion Picture Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) Ikorodu Branch, Association of Nigeria Art and Sign and Graphic Production, Ikorodu Branch; Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, Ikorodu Branch; Lagos State Central Sand and Granite Suppliers Association Ikorodu Branch, Ajegboro Tipper Transport Association of Nigeria Ikorodu Zone.

Others are Lagos State Caterer and Decorations Association of Nigeria Ikorodu Branch, Lagos State Bricklayers Association, Ikorodu Division, Estate Rent and Commission Agent Association Ikorodu Branch, etc.
