Despite the apathy demonstrated by the electorates towards the conduct of the last Local Government elections last month in the state due to the pessimism that local Government chairmen are puppets in the hands of the state government, Prince Lanre Sanusi; a chieftain of APC and founder of ‘Yes We Can’ Movement, has expressed optimism on the ability of the elected Local Government Officials in Ikorodu Division to deliver on their campaign promises to the electorates.
He made this assurance, while featuring on Ikorodu Oga Radio’s Ikorodu Division Icon programme on Tuesday, August 1st, 2017. The Ijede-born All Progressive Party Chieftain in Ikorodu, while speaking further on the matter, said most of the newly-elected Local Government officials are mainly youth, hence, the probability that they will turn things around in their respective councils are high.
“The chances that the newly-elected Local Government officials will turn things around between the scale of zero to ten is eight and half, or I will say 97.6 per cent. It is a new era for Ikorodu and I believe things will get better”, he said.
He further stated that the high level of academic qualifications and past political experiences possessed by some of the local government chairmen will naturally position them to initiate programmes that will positively affect the lives of the electorates.
