Political Office holders within and outside Ikorodu Division have commended Rep Babajimi Benson for providing quality representation to the good people of Ikorodu Division.
The office holders spoke yesterday, when Benson, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Defence went inspected the ongoing constituency projects that were facilitated to Ikorodu federal Constutency.
The lawmaker and his team embarked on an inspection tour to some of the ongoing road construction projects which started from Pashoku Street, off Gbasemo, Aga, Ikorodu down to the ongoing renovation at Ita-Elewa Mini Sports Stadium, and later to Akin Ogunlewe road in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.
Speaking during the inspection, Hon. Benson said the visit was to assess the progress of work on the ongoing projects in order to ease the movement of goods and services in Ikorodu and Igbogbo communities respectively, and also to see another round of renovation project at the mini sports stadium.
The lawmaker said, “I am very happy seeing the smiles on the faces of my people. As you can see, they all jumped out to welcome us, and the Pashoku community is one of the communities that did very well for us during the last general elections, and we need to pay back by giving the real dividend of democracy to the Division.
Benson who was also accompanied on the inspaction tour by Hon. Mobolaji Abubakri Ogunlede, Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development in Lagos State made it known that the essence of the renovation of Ita-Elewa Youth Centre was to give the place a face lift, noting that the mini sports stadium will always keep the youths busy and help in discovering talents among them.
“We are here in Ikorodu today, and I have decided to accompany Hon. Babajimi Benson to inspect the level of work that has been done so far at the ongoing renovation at the Ita-Elewa Mini Sports Stadium which was handed over last year to the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development and to see the progress of the work together,” Ogunlede said.
While thanking Hon Babajimi Benson for what he has done for the people of Igbogbo Bayeiku LCDA, the Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Bldr Olusesan Mayokun Daini, who was part of the entourage that inspected the road project, appreciated the GAC Member, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe for the opportunity given to him to speak on behalf of the people of Igbogbo Bayeiku LCDA.
“This is one out of many, and I can recall that your first road assignment as a representative in Ikorodu Federal Constituency started from Igbogbo Community at Oba Semiu Kasali Street and apart from the road, we have benefited so many other things from you. We thank God that you are a pride to Ikorodu Division, and Lagos State,” he stated.
Speaking at the inspection of the ongoing road construction project, Dr. Nurudeen Yekini Agbaje, Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Rural Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, thanked Hon. Benson, lauding his uncommon passion for community development and expressed his confidence in the federal lawmaker. He therefore urged the residents to ensure that the roads were well maintained.
“I am not surprised with what I am seeing today because this is not the first time that Hon Babajimi Benson will be exhibiting his intentions on the development of roads and social infrastructure in Ikorodu Federal Constituency,” Agbaje said.
“Immediately he started with the construction of Pashoku Road which is one of the major roads in Ikorodu. I know that he has started the project and am sure that he is going to complete it, and he has assured us that the project will be completed very soon. He added.
In the same vein, Hon Adebimpe Nosimot Akinsola, the Oluomo of Igbogbo Kingdom and former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Ikorodu Constituency II, while speaking with pressmen, applauded the magnanimity of Hon Benson, noting that the lawmaker had truly kept to his words.
She said, “What you have done for us on this Akin Ogunlewe road is unquantifiable and not only here, it is across Ikorodu Division. You are a very good representative, we thank you very much and appreciate you because everyone is happy.
The inspection team was led by Rep. Babajimi Benson, and accompanied by Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, Hon Adebimpe Akinsola, Hon Nurudeen Agbaje (Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development), Hon.
