The atmosphere in Imota LCDA of Lagos State yesterday was a joyous one as the Chairman, House of Reps Committee on Defence, Rep Babajimi Benson flags off multiple road projects in the community.
The Ori-Okuta road project is very strategic to the economic prosperity of Imota LCDA as the link roads connects Imota in Lagos State to Sagamu and other Remo Towns in Ogun State.
It is to be noted that, Sagamu Remo and Ikorodu share a very strong historical connections as progenitors of Ikorodu were migrants from Sagamu.
Addressing the excited crowd, made up of residents and political stakeholders at the event, Benson stressed that he decided to embark on the rehabilitation of major inner road projects across Ikorodu Federal Constituency as a way of stimulating the economic growth of the communities.
Speaking through his Director-General, Mayor Deen Sanwo-Ola, Benson added that, the roads would automatically add values to the landed property within the areas, thus promoting economic development.
‘Our goal is to open up the road network in each of the local governments to bring relief to the residents and promote economic prosperity’.
‘Every road we construct, we always make sure that the economic development of the local government is put into consideration, and how does that usually happen the moment a road is constructed, property value will go up because the way the road comes is when it is done solar streetlights will be installed. That would help the night crawlers and traders in the community to trade into the night, thereby making more money’, he added.
He stressed that, after the construction of the roads, house rent increases, and it is all about value and the road project is meant to add value to residents and property owners on the axis.
He concluded by imploring the CDA and CDC to take proper care of the roads that fall within their communities. He urged them not to allow trailers parking on the roads or people parking sands on the roads to block the drainage system.
Expectedly, the Ranodu of Imota, Oba Ajibade Bakare Agoro who showered prsyers and praises on Benson noted that he was the happiest person at the event. The monarch recalled that the first man to buy land in Ori-Okuta community bought the land about 29 years ago.
The royal father expressed appreciation to the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for creating Imota LCDA in 2003, noting that the singular action was responsible for the opening up of the gradual community.

commended Benson who he fondly described as a true son of Imota for remembering his home town.
The Council Chairman also recalled how he led his team to vote Benson in past general elections assuring residents that their votes have now been duly rewarded.
Similarly, a former Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Ikorodu Constituency 2, Hon Nurudeen Saka Sholaja also showered praises on Benson, describing him as a dear brother and true representative.
APC Chairman in Imota LCDA, Alh equally eulogised Rep Benson for making the party proud, through his unprecedented infrastructural interventions and welfarist programmes. The part Chieftain concluded by assuring the federal lawmaker of the votes of Imota LCDA whenever the time comes.
The climax of the ceremony was the formal flag-off of the multiple road projects by the Ranodu of Imota, Oba Ajibade Bakare Agoro, assisted by the Director-General of I-Care Foundation, Mayor Deen Sanwo-Ola, the Executive Chairman of Imota LCDA, Hon Wasiu Adekunle Agoro and other dignitaries.
