114 ROADS: SOLOMADE, ADEKAYAOJA ROADS ARE STRATEGIC LINK ROADS TO EASE TRAFFIC CONGESTION, SAYS ADESHINA AT PARLEY WITH COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDERS

Succour has finally come to the residents and road users around Solomade and Adekayaoja Streets in Ikorodu Local Government, as the Council Chairman, Hon Wasiu Adeshina is set to flag off the reconstruction of the two roads.

The road project is one of the 114 road construction works approved by the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for all the 57 local councils of Lagos State.

Speaking at the Stakeholders’ Meeting ahead of the official flag-off of the road construction, Adeshina noted that the two roads were strategic to easing of traffic along Ayangburen Road and Suberu Ogunsanya Streets, hence cannot be left in its current dilapidated state.

He further stated that, the reconstruction of the roads was in response to the clamour of residents, particularly a former Deputy Governor of Lagos State and Ikorodu Division APC Apex Leader, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye who always ca his attention to the state of the road.

He equally acknowledged the Councillor, representing the area, Hon Mutiat Fatuga-Omole for her unrelenting efforts in lobbying for the rehabilitation of the road.

Similarly, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye commended Adeshina for heeding the call of the people for the rehabilitation of the road.

He stressed that the construction of Solomade Street road was a priority project for his administration, and the council is committed to delivering it.

He further disclosed that the road will be constructed in a way that minimizes demolition of houses and ensures amicable resolution of any issues that may arise.

Prince Ogunleye Abiodun addressed the stakeholders at the meeting, beginning with a song of praise. He explained that he sang the song because of the long-standing issues with the road, which has been a concern for the community, especially during election campaign periods.

Vice Chairman, Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba expressed happiness on the planned rehabilitation of the roads, while urging community stakeholders to collaborate with the local government towards making it a success.

The Council Engineer, Engr. Oladapo Oluseyi in his address gave an insight into the project. He stated that, the road construction will have the complement of a drainage systems to prevent water logging.

Explaining further, he stated that the total length of the drainage is 522 meters for Solomade Road and 80 meters for Adekayaoja Road.

He further noted that, Solomade Road construction will cover a length of 261 meters and stakeholders cooperation with the contractor is crucial for the project’s smooth completion.

He disclosed that, the project is expected to be completed within six months, but with community support, it can be completed within two to three months.

He concluded, by urging the community to monitor take ownership of the project through effective monitoring.

CDA Chairman, Mr. Olusanya Oshikoya, expressed appreciation to the Council Chairman, elders, and youths for their support and collaboration.

He stated that the road projects have brought the dividends of democracy to the community.

He emphasized that the construction will bring development, but some residents must be willing to make sacrifices for the project to be successful.

The community leader urged those who might be affected to show understanding with the local government, noting that the government needs to work, and this project was a response to the community’s persistent requests.
