In continuation of its Food Palliatives Outreach to the vulnerable Lagosians, representatives of the organization on Tuesday extended compassion to residents of Itire in Surulere Lagos.
In his opening address at the exercise, the Food Palliative Project Manager and Assistant Secretary of the Club, Dr Tayo Ogunyemi explained that Eko Club International comprises indigenous Lagos State residents living abroad, united by their love for the state.
He stated that, Eko Club International has continued to demonstrate its commitment to giving back to the community through many people-oriented welfare initiatives.
‘We are Eko Club International, an organization made up of indigenes of Lagos State from abroad, and we are here because of the love we have for this state’, he said.
He noted that the Club has been actively involved in community outreach programs across various Divisions and Local Governments of Lagos State, including Ikorodu, Badagry, and now Itire.
Hon. Ogunyemi said, ‘We understand what is going on in the country, and we know that any little thing anybody can do at this time helps’.
He stated that the club members, under the leadership of President Chief Saheed Olusi and Past Presidents, have collectively donated funds to support the community.
‘We are going to make sure we do what we can in our little way to contribute to the development and well-being of this community and its residents’.
Hon. Ogunyemi further stated that, Eko Club International conducts regular health missions, providing free healthcare services to Lagosians.
‘We also do health missions, where we provide free healthcare. We usually come with Medical Personnel and collaborate with Doctors in Lagos, especially those in the General Hospitals’.
One of the beneficiary, Princess Adenike expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the various initiatives undertaken by Eko Club International, particularly their free health services and food palliative programs.
She disclosed that she has been a regular beneficiary of the club’s health services and recently received food assistance through their palliative program.
‘I appreciate all the good things Eko Club International has been doing. May God continue to bless them’.
Another beneficiary who simply gave his name as Mr. Adegboyega expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Eko Club International for their kind gestures to the downtrodden.
