24 hours after playing host to the Chairman and members of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina has been commended for the level of preparedness of Ikorodu Local Government towards the 2025 Local Government elections in the State.
The commendation was given today by a delegation of Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on LASIEC who paid a working visite to the Council to assess the preparedness of the local government ahead of the forthcoming Council elections in the State.
The working visit was part of the Lagos State House of Assembly’s oversight function in promoting electoral transparency.
The House delegation was led by Hon. Oladipo Ajomale, Chairman of the House Committee on Judiciary, Petitions, Human Rights, and LASIEC-Commissioner Lagos State Local Government Service Commission.
Hon. Adesina received the delegation along with some senior Council officials and other stakeholders.
The Committee’s inspection exercise covers, voters’ education, logistics and security arrangements towards ensuring a smooth and peaceful electoral exercise.
The Council boss assured the Committee of the council’s commitment towards ensuring strict adherence to the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) guidelines towards a peaceful and transparent election.
‘We are committed to upholding the integrity of the electoral process in Ikorodu Local Government’, he said.
‘Our administration has taken deliberate steps to ensure adequate preparation, from security arrangements to logistical support, for a seamless and credible election’, he added.
Adeshina further assured the delegation that all necessary infrastructure and resources would be deployed to guarantee a smooth process, while he encouraged all stakeholders to support the efforts of LASIEC towards a violence-free election.
Responding, Hon. Ajomale expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness of the Council and commended Adesina for his proactive leadership noting that the local government’s readiness was a positive indication of a successful election.
‘We are pleased with what we have seen today. The efforts of the council under the leadership of Hon. Wasiu Adesina reflects strong administrative capacity and a deep commitment to ensuring a credible electoral process’.
He equally charged other local government to emulate the commendable efforts of the Ikorodu Local government.
‘This is exactly what we expect from all local governments across Lagos State’.
He also assured residents of the commitment of LASIEC towards conducting peaceful and transparent elections. He however warned them against any form of electoral malpractice or violence.
‘The Lagos State Government is committed to upholding democracy, and we will not tolerate any form of election irregularities. We urge all political actors and residents of Ikorodu to cooperate and ensure a peaceful and credible election’, he added.
Concluding, Ajomale assured that similar assessments would be conducted across all Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state to ensure uniform preparedness.
