History was made at the Palace of Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remo Land, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, LLB, FCA, CFR, PHD (Torungbuwa 2) yesterday when the revered Royal Father Capped Family Heads, otherwise known as the Olotus for the Anoko-Ogbonyari Royal Family of Ikorodu.
The capping ceremony yesterday has finally put paid to months of forth and back over the event.
Om’oba Jokotade Ogunbiyi a.k.a Jokotex from the Ogbonyari Branch of the Royal Family was formally appointed as the Olotu-General for the Family at the family’s monthly general meeting at the Anoko-Ogbonyari Royal Palace in Sagamu on September 10, 2023.
Arch. Taiwo Akintunde Kara and Alh. Sikiru Obe Jaiyesimi were also appointed at the meeting as the Olotu Anoko and Ogbonyari Branches respectively to coordinate the affairs of each of the twin family branches, under the direct supervision of Olotu-General, Prince Ogunbiyi.
It would be recalled that, Oba Oketade Adedoyi a.k.a Anoko once ruled as the Akarigbo of Remo Land. After his demise, his elder brother, Oba Osonusi Adetuge a.k.a Ogbonyari later succeeded him as the next Akarigbo of Remo Land.
Both brothers were resident at Gberigbe-Owa Akarigbo in Ikorodu before they were selected by the Ifa oracle to ascend the throne of their fore-fathers as Akarigbo of Remo Land.
It is instructive to note that the Anoko-Ogbonyari Royal Family is the largest Royal Family in the entire South-West Nigeria and the only Ruling House where two blood brothers ruled as Monarchs in quick succession.
The event was witnessed by the Oloore Anoko Royal Family, Dr Olukoya Adeleke Adedoyin, Baba Oba Akarigbo of Remo Land who also doubles as the Olotu-General Anoko-Ogbonyari Royal Family Sagamu, Prince (Pa) Adebayo Ogunnaike and Otunba Olaniyi Ajadi Banjoko, Otunba Fuwase of Remo Land among other prominent members of the Anoko-Ogbonyari Royal Family from Ikorodu and Sagamu.
Congratulatory messages have started pouring in from notable sons and daughters of the Royal Family at home and in Diaspora over the historic event.
