Ikorodu Oga Radio can authoritatively report that the recently launched Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative has scored another first, by instituting a N20 Million Education Endowment Fund for the benefit of indigent students across Ikorodu Division.
This disclosure was made by the Executive Secretary of Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative, Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru in an exclusive chat with Ikorodu Oga Radio.
According to Otunba Abiru, the IKORODU DIVISION PEACE INITIATIVE was conceived to target four critical interventions of development namely, Security, Education, Health, Environment, and Roads rehabilitation (SEHER).
He revealed that, ‘considering the overriding importance of SECURITY and being the bastion of all other developments, the first in our proposed series of interventions was Security and as presently being witnessed, the we have made significant impacts in this area as many residents can now sleep with their two eyes closed’, he said.
Justifying the need to intervene in the education sector of the ES further states that, ‘education being also a catalyst and a veritable prong for transformative development or agenda, it was time for us make in roads into Education just as we have positively impacted on Security’.
‘Our intervention in education will be on two fronts, that is, SCHOOLS UPGRADE AND SCHOLARSHIP’, he added.
It is therefore heart warming to report that as a prelude to IDPIL intervention in Education, the IDPIL Board, through its Chairman, Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya, SAN has approved the Institution of IDPIL #20,000,000 MILLION ANNUAL EDUCATION ENDOWMENT FUND as take off grant for the provision of scholarship and Bursary respectively to students in Higher Institutions.
We were reliably informed that a subsisting Ad -hoc committee on EDUCATION AND SCHOOLS’ DEVELOPMENT headed by a former member of the House of Assembly and former Acting Commissioner for Housing, Hon Mrs Adebimpe Akinsola has been saddled with the responsibility of putting in place management structure and guidelines for benefitting scholars and indigent students in Higher Institutions.
Similarly, the body also intends to extend scholarship support to Secondary school students who will also benefit from this human capital development initiative of IDPIL.
The committee, we gathered has been directed to immediately swing into action and ensure that the the names of the first beneficiaries are announced on or before 15th August 2022.
This is wishing the Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya-led IDPIL more milestones in the service of humanity across Ikorodu Division.
