There was serious jubilation among the seven CDA Chairmen of the seven Erunwen communities, all stakeholders and some residents today at the Erunwen community town hall when Hon Jimi Benson, member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency announced that rehabilitation work will commence on the deplorable Erunwen community road in November.
Hon Benson, who is also the Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Defense broke the news when he visited the community on a ‘Listening Tour’ which was a prelude to the commencement of his 3rd term re-election campaign.
Hon Benson explained that the tour was meant for him to feel the pulse of the people and understand their challenges with a view to collating them for necessary action, and if need be, for onward transmission to appropriate government quarters at the state and federal level.
Earlier in his opening speech, Director-General of the I- Care Foundation, Mayor Deen Sanwoola stated that the ‘Listening Tour’ being embarked upon by Hon Benson was not a campaign tour but a platform for one-on-one interaction and an opportunity for him to have a first hand communication with his constituents so that whatever solution or interventions he will apply to their challenges will be based on the people’s direct feedbacks. He also noted that the tour will still take the team to other local governments in the Division.
Earlier at the meeting, some of the community leaders had a rare opportunity to make direct request from their federal representative.
Mr Bello Jelili Olasope Vice Chairman, Ogunnaike CDA requested for the help of the Rep member for a transformer, stressing that his community was the only community without a transformer in the area.
Another community leader, Mr Adesegun stated that the primary problem being faced by the community was its deplorable road, appealing to the amiable lawmaker to intervene.
He therefore requested that Hon Benson should use his good office to facilitate a befitting road that would be in his honour for the community.
Speaking on how strategic the road was, he noted that the Community is bounded by Elepe, Ginti and other communities in Ijede LCDA.
Olotu Omoba Balogun Ikorodu and Olori Ilu of Erunwen spoke glowingly of Hon Benson and prayed for God to bless him more.
He also used the opportunity to request for a transformer in the community, stating that electricity was a major problem confronting Erunwen Balogun CDA.
In his own remarks, Chief Banjoko, the Bobaselu of Ikorodu, praised the quality representation being rendered by Hon Benson. He equally reiterated that the Erunwen road was the major pain in the neck of the entire Erunwen community.
He concluded by showering prayers on the federal lawmaker while pledging the total support of the entire seven Erunwen communities for his re-election.
Responding, Hon Benson assured the people of Erunwen that he will give urgent attention to the road as promised.
He explained that the road was already in his budget and by November, work will commence on the rehabilitation of the entire stretch of the Erunwen road from the junction up to Abule, which is the last community in the area.
It would be recalled that the Erunwen community road has been in deplorable state for decades, with residents going through daily stress to navigate the road.
Ikorodu an environment have been long due for more development, those HONOURABLE before BJB were all selfish except HONOURABLE Abike Dabiri Erewa, she too tried on her little way!
May Allah SWT Continue To Bless HONOURABLE #BJB. AMEN 🙏
I was actually at the meeting and the honourable rightly promised us and we believed him because we’ve heard and seen him do this in other communities successfully and we know ours is going to come through too, we the ogunnaike community also believed he’s going to give us our transformer too and we promise to support his administration.
