BREAKING: SANWOOLU PRESENTS STAFF AND INSTRUMENTSOF OFFICE TO FIRST ALAGURA OF AGURA

History was made today in Ikorodu as the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu formally presented staff and instruments of office to the new monarch of Agura Land, Oba Moruf Ahmed Olalekan Ogunnaike, the Alagura of Agura Land.

The Governor was ably reprsented at the event by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Bolaji Kayode Roberts.

Speaking at the event, Sanwoolu noted that his administration has made the selection process of Obas to be more efficient and timely.

He said, ‘I want to appreciate the sacrifice and unity of all sons and daughters of Agura Land throughout the process leading to today’s event, which made it possible for us to gather today to present the staff of office to the new Alagura of Agura’.

Sanwoolu also, ‘congratulate Oba Ogunnaike, being the first Oba of Agura Land’, while charging him to provide leadership and lead his people rightly.

‘Let me assure you that our administration will continue to accord this side of the state all the attention it deserves in terms of infrastructural development and human capacity development of the entire division’, Sanwoolu concluded.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon Wasiu Adeshina thanked Sanwoolu for embarking on series of developmental projects across Ikorodu Division.

He commended the governor, particularly for the on-going construction of Igbodu-Agura road and presentation of staff of office to the new Alagura of Agura.

Similarly, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, who spoke on behalf of all the royal fathers at the event charged the new monarch to work hard for the unity of his people. He also admonished him to be magnanimous in victory by extending the olive branch to other princes that contested the stool with him.

In his brief remarks after receiving his instruments of office, Oba Ogunnaike thanked Governor Sanwoolu for facilitating his installation. He also thanked his subjects for their support, promising to be a listening leader who would be all-inclusive in his decisions.

The historic ceremony was witnessed by a former Lagos State Head of Service, Alh Babatunde Rotinwa, the Chief Imam of Ikorodu Division, His Eminence Abdul sheriff Oloworibi, principal staffs of Ikorodu Local Government and prominent sons and daughters of Agura Land.
