Some Ikorodu Division Stakeholders have commended the recent inauguration of the Founder of Ikorodu Oga Radio & TV Productions, Om’oba ‘Peju Akinyemi into the Management Board of Ikorodu Town Hall.
The dynamic Multimedia Journalist was formally inaugurated alongside other members on Saturday, 29th July.
Speaking on the rationale behind Akinyemi’s appointment, Chairman of the Board, Arch. Taiwo Akintunde Kara noted that the appointment was in recognition of the exemplary commitment to the development of Ikorodu Division as a whole.
‘The appointment is in recognition of your commitment to community service and we look forward to making use of your proven expertise towards effective management and policy formulation for the Town Hall’, he said.
The appointment, we gathered is for a 2-year tenure, effective from April 2024 – March 2026.
It is Instructive to note that, Om’oba Akinyemi, prior to his latest appt was instrumental to the formal branding of the Ikorodu Oga Day Celebrations and the introduction of an event logo for the annual event during the administration of Otunba Fatai Olukoga in 2009.
Similarly, Akinyemi, through Ikorodu Oga Radio was solely responsible for the launch of ‘Ikorodu Is My Success Story’ outdoor campaign during the celebration of ‘Lagos at 50’ to celebrate Ikorodu Division heroes and heroines who have made significant contributions to the development of Lagos State and Nigeria at large, across different sectors. The initiative was meant to bring the Ikorodu Division perspective into the commemoration when none of the Ikorodu Division’s personalities were recognized in any of the Lagos State Government outdoor campaigns.
It is also remarkable to note that ‘Peju also worked closely with the administration of Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru as IKODASS Chairman between 2017-2021 for the rebranding of the annual Ikorodu Oga Day with ‘Ikorodu Oga Is My Heritage’ Street light pole publicity campaign, branded wrist bands among other strategic publicity initiatives.
In recent times, the award-winning Community Media Practitioner is also instrumental to the introduction and hosting of the Annual Ipakodo Day Celebrations as Event and Media Consultant.
‘Peju, as he is fondly called is also the Publicist and Media Consultant to Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative (IDPIL) and Eminent Persons of Ikorodu Division (EPID) among other commendable community initiatives.
Most significantly, the launch of his Ikorodu Oga Radio, Nigeria’s First Online Community Radio has gone down memory lane as a watershed and major reference point in the history of community radio in Nigeria.
Stakeholders have applauded the appointment of Om’oba ‘Peju Akinyemi into the Board, describing it as well deserved, going by the records of his contributions to Ikorodu Division development.
