The dreaded Corona Virus Disease, otherwise known as COVID-19 has continued to have its negative toll on the socio-economic life of Nigerians, since its first reported case in the country few weeks ago.
It will be recalled that, the Lagos State government directed the closure of all public and private schools in the State from Monday 23rd March. This was closely followed by the Work-From-Home’ order from the governor to State civil servants between levels 1-12, constituting about 70% of the state workforce.
The latest negative effect of the dreaded disease is the cancellation of the annual ‘Odun Osu’ festival, an annual traditional celebration of Ikorodu Princes and Princesses.
The notice of cancellation, which was contained in a public statement, quoted the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi as saying that the decision was in support of the efforts of the Lagos State Government, towards curtailing the spread of the disease, which has become a global emergency.
