COVID-19 FOOD INTERVENTION: IKORODU COUNCIL CHAIRMEN SET TO GIVE OUT FOOD RELIEF TO RESIDENTS, APPLAUD GOV SANWOOLU’S EMERGENCY FOOD PACKS

Barring any last minute change, the chairmen of Ikorodu’s six (6) local government and local council development areas have concluded plans to provide emergency food reliefs to residents of Ikorodu division of the State.

This revelation was made by the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu local government, Hon Wasiu Adeshina. Adeshina made the disclosure in an exclusive chat with Ikorodu Oga Radio, shortly after the distribution of the Lagos State sponsored Covid-19 emergency food relief packs to the local government on Friday, 3rd April.

Speaking with Ikorodu Oga Radio, on behalf of his colleagues, Hon Wasiu Adeshina commended Gov. Babajide Sanwoolu for the gesture to the local government. He noted that the distribution of the food packs was timely as it met the needs of the vulnerable members of the general public who desperately needed the food relief.

Adeshina said, ‘I want to commend the dynamic Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwoolu for his efforts at combating the spread of the coronavirus disease in the State. In particular, I wish to thank our governor for the food packs he sent to us in Ikorodu division. The food packs came in timely as it meet the needs of our residents who desperately need food at this crucial time’.

‘While we appreciate the State government’s effort, we are also aware that many of our people still need food support. To this end, myself and my fellow Chairmen in Ikorodu division have concluded plans to compliment the State government effort by making similar food packs available to the vulnerable members of our local councils by next week’, he added.

Adeshina also told Ikorodu Oga Radio that, a total of 4, 200 emergency food packs were received in the local government earlier and they were distributed to every segment of the public that are identified as strategic contacts towards ensuring that the gesture gets to the right beneficiaries at the grassroots namely, the six (6) CDCs across the division to reach out to all CDAs who will get five (5) packs each, youth groups, and the physically challenged in the division.
