EPILEPTIC POWER SUPPLY: HON BENSON PROVIDES 800 SOLAR POWERED LIGHTS, 100 STREET LIGHTS TO IKORODU HOMES, MARKETS, HEALTH CENTRES

Following the spate of poor and epileptic power supply across Ikorodu Division, the Member,representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Babajimi Benson, is lighting up communities and households in Ikorodu Division by facilitating solar-powered lights in over 800 households, night markets, Healthcare centers, Community Development Areas (CDAs) amongst others.

The sustainable and eco-friendly light project by the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Defence is part of efforts to address the issue of epileptic power supply by electricity distribution companies in some cases and outright darkness in some others. The solar energy provision will also address the issue of insecurity and environmental pollution in Ikorodu at no cost to the recipients.

The solar energy solution deployed to vulnerable families and communities in Ikorodu is a modular system, with PV solar panels, batteries, fan and lamps that adapt to the customer’s needs.

The standard kit deployed to households includes a one 50wp solar panel with battery to store sun energy, 4 Wired LED bulbs, 1 solar powered fan, and 1 rechargeable mobile radio. The battery box can power up to 6 USB powered or 12V powered appliances.

Some of the markets that benefited from the street light installation includes, Obu- Ale and Ajina markets in Ikorodu Local Government Area, Club 24 market, Igbogbo-baiyeku LCDA, Obu ale market, Ijede LCDA and Imota market, Imota LCDA.

Communities that also benefited include, Parafa CDA, Agbele and Ibeshe newly constructed healthy centre while the installation is still ongoing in Allison market, Ikorodu, Ishen- olu oloja CDA, Odogunyan, Ikorodu central north and Dele kuti street in Ikorodu west LCDA.

Speaking to our correspondent, most of the beneficiaries were exceedingly grateful and full of praises and prayers for Rep. Benson for providing light in this season of hardship.

A beneficiary, Adeleke Fasanya while showing his gratitude on Facebook wrote,”I say a very big thanks to Hon Babajimi Benson and the entire iCare team for making me one the beneficiaries of the solar panel board. Thanks selfless progressives, ” he wrote.
