The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mr Obafemi Hazmat has praised Rep Babajimi Adegoke Benson, Chairman House Committee on Defence for attracting quality dividends of democracy to Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
Hamzat gave the commendation on Monday at the General Hospital, Ikorodu during the formal flag-off ceremony of the 40-Bed Trauma Center facilitated by Benson for the 41 year old secondary health facility.
He described Benson as a good ambassador of the ruling, All Progressives Congress (APC) whose achievements should be used as a benchmark for choosing candidates for political offices.
He said, ‘Thank you very much for what you do for our State and for Ikorodu Federal Constituency in particular’.
‘That’s why I appreciate our Honourable for doing what he is doing. That’s why we encourage our people not just because we want votes, we must look for people with good family pedigree to be our representatives’, he added.
Speaking further, he said, ‘Nigeria belongs to all of us and we have to keep bringing projects from the federal to the State. But, we can’t achieve so much without having capable representatives like Rep Babajimi Benson’, he stated.
Hamzat also appealed for understanding among Nigerians over the current economic hardships in the country, occasioned by the economic policies of the current administration.
He assured the gathering that things will improve with time.
He noted that by the time the trauma centre was completed, it would add to the progress being recorded in the area of Infrastructural development in Lagos State.
Earlier in his welcome address, Benson stated that he facilitated the Trauma Center on the request of the Managing Director/CEO of Ikorodu General Hospital, Dr Taiwo Hassan who lobbied him to facilitate the project.
Benson also disclosed that the flag-off event was only meant to put pressure on the contractor to ensure he completed the project within the nine month timeline.
Benson also expressed appreciation to the MD/CEO of the General Hospital, Ikorodu, Dr Taiwo Hassan for impressing it upon him to facilitate the project.
Benson equally drew the attention of the Deputy Governor to the need to accelerate the completion of Agric-Isawo and Igbogbo Road projects while compensation should also be paid to the affected property owners.
Earlier in his welcome address, Hassan appreciated Benson for fulfilling his promise by flagging off the project.
He noted that though discussion on the project started in 2021, Benson kept to his promise.
The event was graced by the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, Sekumade of Ipakodo, Oba Basiru Aremu Sotonwa, FNSE, Ranodu of Imota, Oba Mudashiru Ajibade Agoro and Eweye of Isiu, Oba David Raji Balogun, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali.
Other prominent guests that witnessed the event were APC Apex Leaders and GAC members, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Bashorun, a former Lagos State Head of Service, Alh Babatunde Tajudeen Rotinwa among others.
