IDPIL 3RD ANNIVERSARY: IKORODU DIVISION ROYAL FATHERS LAY FOUNDATION FOR WORLD-CLASS ADEWUNMI OGUNSANYA RENAL CENTER

The Multi-Award winning Ikorodu General Hospital, is set to be upgraded, with the donation of a One-storey building, world-class Adewunmi Ogunsanya Renal Centre, donated by the Ikorodu Businessman and Philanthropist, High Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya, SAN, who also doubles as the Odofin of Ikorodu.

The Ground-Breaking Ceremony of the Multi-Billion Naira facility was performed yesterday by five Ikorodu Division Royal Fathers, supported by the Chairman of the IDPIL Board of Trustees, High Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya, to commemorate the 3rd Anniversary Celebration of the IDPIL.

Speaking on the motivation behind the project, Ogunsanya disclosed how the idea was first sold to him by Olòrì Abosede Shotobi, wife of the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi.

He added that her persistence on the project, compelled him to give the project a favourable consideration.

In recognition of her motherly love and concern for Ikorodu indigenes, Ogunsanya announced that a ward in the Renal Center would be named after Olòrì Abosede Shotobi.

The IDPIL BOT Chair, further reiterated that, it became a concern to him that the entire Ikorodu Division could not boast of a renal health facility, thus exposing many residents to avoidable health complications and in some cases, death.

He therefore pledged that, with the Ground-Breaking Ceremony formally done, he would ensure to provide all the necessary resources required for the delivery of the facility within the next twelve calendar months.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Medical Director of Ikorodu General Hospital, Dr. Taiwo Hassan, expressed sadness that the multi-award winning, Ikorodu General Hospital, lacked a Nephrology Department, stating that many lives had been lost, due to this.

“Every week, we get between 8-10 patients with kidney related diseases, but we refer them to the now-overcrowded Gbagada General Hospital, since this General Hospital lacks a Nephrology Department.
Sadly, we eventually lose many of these patients. But, with this epoch making project, this negative trend will end.”

While the thanksgiving and appreciation of dignitaries at the event, went to the Odofin of Ikorodu, High Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya, for his philanthropy and benevolence, the Odofin reaffirmed that this, among many other projects, is the joint endeavour of the IDPIL and not solely his.

The Ground-breaking Ceremony, was graced by Ikorodu Division Royal Fathers, some of which include: Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Oba Ajibade Agoro, Ranodu of Imota, Oba David Raji Balogun, Eweye of Isiu and Oba Engr. Basiru Aremu Sotonwa, Sekumade of Ipakodo, who expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Odofin of Ikorodu, High Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya, for his benevolence and commitment to the development of Ikorodu Division as a whole.
