IDPIL TO BEGIN RENOVATION OF PUBLIC SCHOOL STRUCTURES ACROSS IKORODU DIVISION, TO START WITH ORETA PRIMARY SCHOOL

In further pursuits of its community development agenda in the education sector, the Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative IDPIL is set embark on the renovation of some dilapidated public school structures across the Division.

The IDPIL move is aimed at promoting quality public education, through the improvement on the existing school steuçtures.

The body took the decision at its general meeting held at its Ikorodu office on 6th July. This was in response to reports that many public schools in Ikorodu Division were in very bad shape.

Making a case for the interventions, Hon Adebimpe Akinsola, stressed that public primary schools were the most affected.

Responding, the Board of Trustees Chairman of the body, High Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya, SAN stated that government alone cannot provide all the needed infrastructures for the society, hence the news for IDPIL to extend her intervention in the education sector to school building renovations.

He therefore mandated the Chairman of the IDPIL Committee on Information and Education, Otunba Ayodele Elesho to do a shortlist of schools that required the body’s immediate intervention across the Division, for consideration.

Oreta Primary School in Igbogbo-Bayeku was chosen as the pilot school for the exercise based on some photographs of the school’s dilapidated building which recently surfaced online.

Members of the organization also approved the immediate engagement of the relevant Lagos State Government agencies for necessary approvals that would enhance the immediate commencement of the intervention exercise.
