Following on-going demolition of houses in Igbogbo community of Ikorodu Division and complaints from those whose houses were affected, Hon Babajimi Benson, Member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives has assured affected Igbogbo residents of prompt and adequate compensation by the Lagos State government.
Hon. Benson gave this assurance after a closed door meeting with Oba Orimadegun Kasali, the traditional ruler and Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom.
On a recent visit, some of the affected residents had complained to Ikorodu Oga Radio that, they were yet to be compensated by the Lagos state government, neither did they know the plans of the government towards compensating them.
An Igbogbo resident, Dankuwo Adeleke told Ikorodu Oga Radio that, ‘For now, we don’t know what the government intends to do in terms of compensating us but, we heard that they have set up a committee to negotiate with the government, on our behalf. I hope they will represent us well’ he said.
With this assurance coming from the federal lawmaker, the fears of Igbogbo residents whose family houses and buildings were demolished that the government may not compensate them may have been finally laid to rest.
