The Ayangbure of Ikorodu and Paramount ruler of the division, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi has urged Ikorodu youths to emulate the selfless virtues of Mrs Tosan Titilayo Erogbogbo, recipient of the 2018 IKODASS Role Model Award.
Oba Shotobi gave the admonition while presenting the IKODASS Role Model award to Mrs Erogbogbo, on Wednesday 14th November during the 2018 Ikorodu Oga Day Youth Activities Day event held at the Ikorodu Town Hall.
Oba Shotobi eulogized Mrs Erogbogbo, Director Rhoda Youth Centre, a free skill acquisition and training centre for youths around Ikorodu, commending her selflessness and that of her husband for investing their hard earned resources into such humanitarian and non-profit making venture, towards empowering Ikorodu youths.
‘I must commend Mrs Tosan Erogbogbo for bringing Rhoda Youth Centre to Ikorodu. You and your husband have been helping to provide skill trainings and economic empowerment for our youths and keeping them away from the streets’, the monarch said.
Oba Shotobi also commended the Warri-born philanthropist for marrying an Ikorodu son, in person of Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo and for making Ikorodu her home and the people her people, comparing her to his wife, Olori Kudirat Abosede Shotobi whom he said has embraced Ikorodu’s food, culture and traditions, despite being from the Niger Delta, like Mrs Erogbogbo.
Earlier in his speech, IKODASS Chairman, Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru said that the Youth / Children Activities Day was ‘set aside to celebrate our teeming youths and to give an outstanding award of a Role Model to an illustrious lady, who has distinguished herself and whose antecedents and achievements are not only motivational but, also inspiring’.
Some of the activities of the day include march-pasts by public and private schools, cultural presentations, Miss Ikorodu Beauty Pageant, Mr Ikorodu Body Building Contest among other interesting side attractions.
