The newly inaugurated IKODASS team led by a retired Director in the Lagos State Civil Service, Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo seems determined to hit the ground running, after its formal inauguration on Sunday, 16th May, 2021.
The new IKODASS executive has announced its first programme tagged, ‘Time Out with Octogenarians’, targeted at senior citizens from 80 years old and above, barely few weeks after its inauguration.
According to the new IKODASS Chairman, the programme is aimed at creating opportunity for the elderly citizens, most of whom are suffering from loneliness and certain old age related sicknesses to unwind and network with their contemporaries.
‘We have decided to reach out to our elderly, who are mainly living alone in family houses, away from their children. Unlike what obtains abroad, where there are old.people’s homes, we keep our old people in family houses, to be catered to by maids in Nigeria.
Giving an insight into the proposed programme in an exclusive chat with Ikorodu Oga Radio, Erogbogbo disclosed that, ‘many of these people need to know what to eat and what not to eat at their age. We will introduce them to healthy alternatives their regular meals. They will be served healthy breakfast and lunch during the programme. They will also be made to play their traditional games. It is a holistic fun-filled package for them’, he said.
A major highpoint of the event, which will hold at Eroz Place, Gbasemo Street, Aga we learnt will be health talk and free medical check up and traditional music to spice the day.
The event, slated for Saturday, 19th June 2021 is free of charge to participants but, registration is required for easy planning and due to limited spaces available.
Participants will be registered on first-come-first-served basis.
The Time Out with Octogenarian is a partnership between IKODASS and Eroz Place.
