IKORODU DIVISION WOMEN OF SUBSTANCE SUPPORTS PUBLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPILS WITH NOTEBOOKS, SCHOOL UNIFORMS AND SANDALS

In a rare show of empathy for the economic plight of vulnerable pupils and practical demonstration of support for parents of public primary school pupils across the six local councils in Ikorodu Division, a group of professionals and accomplished women, under the aegis of Women of Substance Association have provided the much-needed educational support for some selected pupils.

The group, on Wednesday and Thursday traversed a total of 12 selected schools in Ijede, Imota, Ipakodo, Owode-Ibeshe, Erunwen, Igbogbo and other interiors of Ikorodu Division to show love and support for indigent pupils in the selected schools, through the distribution of notebooks, school uniforms and school sandals to these special children.

In each of the schools visited, a pair of 15 newly sewed school uniforms and 5 exercise books each were presented to beneficiaries who are majorly pupils from KG class to Primary Six.

Addressing Media men on the sidelines of the distribution exercise, President of Women of Substance Association, Hon. Adebimpe Akinshola acknowledged the universal presence of challenges, emphasizing finance as the major challenge confronting families.

‘Challenges are common, but finance is the major challenge confronting the whole world, including Nigeria’, thus emphasizing the need for everyone to be their brothers’ keepers’, she stated.

Akinshola, a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly also expressed profound gratitude for the support of the Patron of the association, High Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya, SAN, Odofin of Ikorodu Kingdom in the execution of the association’s plans.

Hon. Akinshola stated that, Women of Substance Association aims to positively impact various segments of the community, including, students, women, single parents, widows and young people.

She equally highlighted some of the organization’s accomplishments which includes donation of sewing machines to the Vocational Training Center at Etunrere, Ikorodu, empowering individuals with practical skills.

Mrs. Janet Idowu, Headmistress of Anglican Primary School, Ijede, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Women of Substance Association for their generous donation her pupils.

‘We really appreciate the Women of Substance Association for this donation given to our children,” she said. “I appreciate them for this because it will go a long way towards the betterment of education in our school’.

Mrs. Idowu revealed that the beneficiaries of the donation were students from the ECCS (Early Childhood Care and Education) class and Primary One.

Mrs. Alonge Adenike, School Manager of Methodist Primary School, Oke Eletu also expressed heartfelt gratitude to Women of Substance Association for supporting vulnerable pupils in the school.

‘I really want to appreciate the Women of Substance Association. They are good mothers. The Lord will continue to give them the wisdom to support these children’, she prayed.

At Methodist Primary School, Oke-Eletu, Certificate Of Commendation was presented to representatives of the Women of Substance Association in appreciation of their good gesture and support for the educational development of their pupils.

Some members of the Association that witnessed the distribution exercise were, Mrs Laide Adebiyi, Secretary of the Association, Mrs Kalesanwo Kemi, Chairman of the Project Committee and Mrs Aroyewun Toyin, Secretary of the Project Committee among others.
